About Empty Horizons
Mireille Maiorano is the daughter of a wealthy Italian family, raised in an all girls' boarding school far away from the rest of society — until her monotonous life is thrown into disarray after the unexpected death of her father.
Left with nowhere else to go, Mireille is sent to live with her uncle in France — but the man who acts as her escort is the worst person imaginable for such a delicate job. Lyon is a tactless, careless Frenchman who only seems to care about telling stupid jokes and seducing older women, and Mireille hates him with every inch of her being.
At least, she would. She wants to. But life isn't always that simple.

The story starts off a bit sad about Mireille, but as it unfolds, it turns really sweet and engaging. With several endings to discover, you get to choose how things turn out, making it a great pick for anyone who loves a good story. It's definitely worth checking out.9 found this helpful
I purchased solely for the emoticon. Every badge level with this one is so cute too. For $3 it is worth it if you like cute badges/ pink bow emoticon. As for the book. The art is pretty, she has some really cute outfits. It lacks voice actors and animations. In the least, it needed a voiceover as it would’ve given it a little something. Instead of voice actors it is paired with a single melody you hear for four hours. I will come back to dbd as a one brain cell Leon. Ugh pls it was cute for a bit and then muted. I wish the music would have changed to match the tone or allow us to select from various songs. As for the story I did not care for it. The ending is tragic. I was advertently sucked in and needed to see it through even when it dragged. Without giving away too many spoilers- trust your gut ladies. You could AFK for 100% completion. Speed up completion with a clicker or utilizing the skip button when it allows. *FYI sometimes while you use Steam chat or browse the activity section the book will continue on its own and other times it will not. With that said, it takes closer to 4 hours or less for 100% completion.4 found this helpful
Empty Horizons is a story-focused visual novel developed and published by ebi-hime that places emotional storytelling and character development at the center of its experience. Rather than relying on gameplay systems built around combat, exploration, or puzzle-solving, the game builds momentum through dialogue, personal relationships, and emotional growth. It delivers a slower and more reflective narrative that focuses on grief, identity, loneliness, and human connection, creating an experience designed for players who appreciate thoughtful storytelling over traditional gameplay mechanics. The story follows Mireille Maiorano, a young woman whose carefully structured life begins to unravel after the death of her father. Raised within a sheltered environment and accustomed to emotional distance, Mireille suddenly finds herself forced into unfamiliar circumstances that challenge both her perspective and personal boundaries. Relocating to France after tragedy changes her life completely, placing her into an environment filled with unfamiliar people and situations she never expected to face. One of Empty Horizons’ strongest qualities comes from how it handles emotional vulnerability. …
Beautiful art, an interesting twist and a juicy, problematic romance. Well worth the price.
I really enjoyed Empty Horizons, it's probably one of my favorite stories from this developer and one of the first stories I read from Ebi-hime. It's short but sweet. I felt I could relate to Mireille quite a bit (maybe not the greatest thing? but!) and wanted to see things work out for her. Grief is an interesting thing and I felt the story handled it gently. I'm also a huge sucker for bodyguard characters, so I thought Lyon was really cute. ^^; It was fun to see him and Mireille's banter, and Mireille come out of her shell a little. Like the other reviews mentioned, if you enjoy it, make sure you go back and check it out past your first playthrough!
I liked the first ending, but I didn't like one of the additional endings as much, since I felt like they took something away from the first ending. Good twist.
