About Ephesus

"It is a rough road that leads to the heights of greatness." - Lucius Annaeus Seneca

Ephesus is an ancient roman city which is located in aegean coast of Turkey. This city was one of the most glorious city of Roman Empire at the times. In Ephesus's massive open world you will explore the whole grandeur of this rich city as if you were walking down on it's streets. While you're chasing the quest line, trading, gathering or building you will see the real coverings of the Ephesus. Main goal of the game is that it will let you experience the Citizen of Ephesus's daily life while you're exploring this open world and surviving on it.

In Ephesus you will take on the role of Hector Remus at the 100 BC. Hector is a passionate young man with great dreams and dedication. You will try to set up your own path through this journey. You need to gather resources for hunting, crafting, building and you need to check your vital signs to stay alive.

This game is not going to force you to follow the questline. If you want you can just hunt, build and explore the map designed to surprise you. You can be a great trader or a farmer who makes more money that no one has ever done.

This game created an itch on the top of my mouth that only a shotgun could scratch. Ephesus is so bad, I decided to write a negative review for it, and I gave Battlefield 2042 a thumbs up on release, so that tells you everything about my standards. At first glance it might remind you of the game Forgotten City but don’t be fooled, calling it instead “Dollar store” Forgotten City would be an understatement. It’s bare bones concerning content and polish. Feels more like a demo than a game. This game is good in the first 5 minutes then it’s trash after that. It costs 5 bucks and its not even worth being on Steam. I would like to end my life after playing this. I have spiraled into moments of despair and pure depression. I will drink my self to sleep tonight and seek professional mental health services in the morning. Please stay away, don’t buy this trash. with love, Flavius Claudius Julianus

This game is massively under-produced. I wanted to stop playing 20 mins. into it, but tried to give myself an hour to try it out. Unfortunately, the health bar did not give me enough time to do that and it froze upon reload, after my character died of starvation, shortly after running into a bear. At least I think it was a bear, because the graphics are underwhelming for what the Unreal engine can handle. However, the graphics are not as bad as some of the reviews make them out to be (That's actually one of the things that prompted me to buy this thing for 6 bucks - curiosity about the quality). The motion blur is plain annoying, the rain effects are not worth the drain on the hardware, the controls could be smother, and the whole thing feels awkward. Despite that, the creators did manage to build a beautiful city. It's obvious they put effort into the detail of the buildings, but otherwise the quality is something out of the early 2000s. They other reason I picked this up is that it set in the classical age/ancient Rome. There are not too many open-world games covering that topic. So, it is a market niche. Nonetheless, the game is questionably historic and does not make that up…

This game attempted to pay me to do a review during its early days. I never did, until now. Avoid. Shady tactics.

It's like the fall of Rome... burdened by a system that could not balance the needs of the people, before collapsing in serious ruin. The game was very difficult to play when it launched, but I had high hopes for it. It got... worse, much worse since then. I had a hard time playing it, everything was broken. So I left it. I came back later... and it was worse?! The devs ultimately ran away from it like a smoking Pompeii. I almost don't blame them... there really isn't much to salvage. I'm not excusing them... it's just... Steam isn't a forgiving platform, and the amount of work and cost to redo the entire game from scratch... even if it improved, there is no reversing the ratings-damage. It's hopeless. Don't bother buying it, thinking you can refund it... why do an unnecessary certain refund when you have warnings not too.
