About Flyhunter Origins
Meet Zak; a bumbling alien spaceship Janitor and wannabe Flyhunter. Zak is a “Zursk”- one of three alien species from Burgarol 3. He works on board the Flyhunter Crew’s legendary spaceship; ‘The Frog’ but deep down he longs for an exciting adventure of his own.
Somewhere in Earth’s orbit, while the heroic Flyhunters are deep in cryo sleep; The Frog’s cargo of super-important, exotic insects from the latest hunt is mysteriously jettisoned into Space, crash-landing back on planet Earth! It seems that clumsy Janitor Zak is the only one around to save the day.
Can this accidental hero swap his Sweeping Brush for a super-cool Fly Swatter and take on the role of daring Flyhunter? It’s a good job Zak’s is used to cleaning up – because he’s in a huge mess! Hurry! Help this little dude complete his mission, before “The Investors” find out their expensive bugs are missing!

Plays well on the Deck. Pretty much 90fps (OLED) most of the time at max settings, but when it does drop a bit it is hardly noticeable and not enough to impact enjoyability. A configuration window display on every start up, but nothing that can't be handled by the Deck's built-in override mouse control. Gameplay is fairly straight forward and not difficult at all. Story is silly, visuals are very nice, controls are basic, but handle fine and sounds good. I only encountered one bug (glitch), which made my character get stuck inside the environment so needed to restart the level; the rest of the bugs (insects/arachnids) are intended to be part of the game that you can (mostly) kill or run past so if you have a fear of some of these then perhaps skip this. Is it memorable in the long run? Maybe not, but you will most likely enjoy your playthrough as this feels like a casual romp for a younger crowd. Achievements are easy and a couple require replaying levels since there are time-based and collection-based stats you must complete for each level for those two. Overall recommended if you want a cute and stress free game to play.1 found this helpful
Flyhunter Origins is a lighthearted side-scrolling platformer that tells a quirky story about Zak, a clumsy alien janitor who accidentally ejects both his crew and their valuable insect cargo into Earth’s orbit. To save face and avoid losing his job, he takes on the unlikely role of a Flyhunter, tracking down the missing bugs and recovering his companions. The setup immediately sets the tone for the game: it doesn’t take itself too seriously, but it uses its humorous premise to drive a simple yet colorful adventure that blends classic platforming with some creative chase sequences. The visual presentation is one of the game’s more charming qualities. Steel Wool Games, formed by animators with strong backgrounds in film and storytelling, inject personality into the characters and cutscenes. Zak himself is a goofy but endearing protagonist, and the environments embrace a “miniature” perspective where everyday settings like gardens and household spaces become massive, hazardous playgrounds. The cartoonish style suits the tone well, but when looked at closely, some textures and models reveal a lack of polish. Certain environments and backgrounds can feel repetitive, and while the art …
The first game ever released by Steel Wool, a developer now most well known for taking over the Five Nights At Freddy's franchise from one-man dev team "ScottGames" It's a rather short, but enjoyable simple platformer that is a great one to help kids learn how to play sidescrollers. There's something here for adults as well as the colorful world, creative bug theme, and fun dialogue If you're looking for a challenge, skip this, but if you just want to relax and look at some beautifully rendered gardens and bugs with cartoony aliens and laugh at some fun jokes, then at a four dollar price tag, this is worth an afternoon. It's short, but at the price, you're getting a little more than you pay for.
