Eeeh...this reviewing malarkey is a tricky business. Zakk Hazard is a side scrolling shooter that commits (for me at least) a grievous sin right off the bat. It's 2019 and I thought (perhaps mistakenly?) that it was accepted in this day and age that some PC players are former console plebs who like to (steel yourselves members of the PC master race) play with.....*gasp* controllers. This isn't an RTS where such a thought would be misguided, and yet....no controller support. Now: Steam has mouse and keyboard emulation, so no biggie - or so you'd think....But! It doesn't play like a conventional game where you aim in 360 degrees around yourself, and instead uses a wonky aiming reticule. You only aim in it's direction (rather than 100% at it's point) so there was no need for excluding controller support gameplay wise. Steam means you can still play with a controller, but it's almost unplayable nonetheless. It's fiddly and a little bit sluggish, so that's not a good start. Want to aim to your right? why go with just the simple act of pushing right on the right stick, when you could instead have to wait for the reticule to move allllllllll the wayyyyyyy past your character from the l…8 found this helpful

i really enjoyed this game it took me back to the 90s reminds me of monster bash, commander keen , duke nukem 2 and much more. if you looking for the next revolutionary platformer you wont find it here but if you are looking for a game that you can play and enjoy it for what it is you cant go wrong here.1 found this helpful
A fun side scrolling shooter with minimal bugs. I found the first few levels didn't take too long, and the overall game play was fun. I had few issues with the overall pacing of the game. It feels a lot like Risk of Rain 1 met an early puzzle game. As someone who has lots of love for the now retro games I appreciate the art style, and the physics. I had a few concerns with the playability when I ran into a few invisible walls mid-jump but overall a great game for the price. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys that retro feel, and has a couple bucks they don't desperately need.1 found this helpful
I really enjoy the game, I love the play style and how it progressively gets more challenging. I am a big fan of the graphics and the overall design of the game and think it works really well. I can also appreciate that i am able to play it on laptop as well as opposed to most games you find!1 found this helpful
