About FoxTail

FoxTail is a classic point-and-click quest. Drawing inspiration from the old pixel adventure games of the middle 90's, we create an atmospheric and spectacular world without using sophisticated modern technologies.

FoxTail is about a cute, young fox named Leah who goes on a journey to find a cure for her grandmother. Along her life changing trip she explores forests, swamps and caves, gets acquainted with various creatures and helps them in their needs.
She also reveals the secrets of her grandfather's mystical past...

Complex and variable tasks: the world of FoxTail triggers player’s imagination and gives an opportunity to solve problems in different, but equal in complexity ways.

A charming story: echoing the leisurely rhythm of the old school adventures, the story is still colorful and impressive, but never boring.

Characters and their stories: every character in the game has his own life, in which the player will have to take part, one way or another.

The main heroine, Leah the fox, is charismatic, funny and cunning, as any fox is supposed to be. She will have a long and difficult journey: through the labyrinths of mines, mountains, swamps and dangerous forest at night, defeating her own fears and helping those who meet her on the way.

All this is for the great positive goal that doesn’t allow her to retreat or surrender.

✦ AI summary

Players praise FoxTail as a charming point-and-click adventure with beautiful pixel art, fair puzzles, and strong nostalgic appeal to classic 90s games, with three substantial chapters already available. Common concerns include the game's unintuitive design that frustrates some players, lack of controller support, and worries about the developer's engine switch from Wintermute to Unity and overall development direction. Despite the early-access status, most positive reviewers find the current content well worth playing while the game is still in development.

I have to recommend against buying this game. This game started very promising, resonating with both furry community and retro games enjoyers, the story follows adorable fox girl Leah and her adventures. Some people were initially wary about adventure game being early-access but It quickly rolled out 3 full length episodes to everyone's enjoyment. But then somewhere in the development cycle something went south. I already was skeptical when I heard about the game swithing from Wintermute (which is "authentic" oldschool point-and-click engine) to unity. Not only it would mean the game be dependent to very untrustworthy company (we all remember recent Unity fee controversy), it meant rewriting and rebuilding the entire game over from scratch, just dumping years of the hard work, which exactly what devs were doing for last ~3-4 years now, as far as I'm aware. It fact this seem to be such a sensitive topic that I got banned in the community hub just for asking whether current (wintermute) version will be available after the unity port will be rolled out. I guess that's a no. I suggest everyone who own this game to at all costs preserve the current version intact, because albeit unfinis…

This game here really managed to turn a peaceful story into an exciting one! Currently you are able to play 3 chapters of this game and I can't wait for the next update and finally play it's next chapter. It even proves, that pixel arts can still be beautiful and gave me the oldschool, classic click and point game vibes. All of it's riddles so far were challenging, but fair! I've only needed to peek one time into a walkthrough, but all of the other riddles were solveable after some more exploring. Your diary's always able to help you out, if you should forget your next task(s). So yes, I can highly recommend it. But keep in mind, that it's still an Early Access game.

It's a cute game and all, but it is not intuitive at all. I just didn't get it.

If you miss classical adventure games of the 90's and their lovely graphics, FoxTail is just for you! Currently (Sep 2025), the game is not finished yet and you can play chapters 1-3 out of planned seven or so. Still, it means hours of playtime, definitely worth the money.
