About Golden Rails: Small Town Story
The Old West meets the New Frontier as you build a railroad that stretches across America and fight to put a trigger-happy bandit behind bars!
A land of opportunity lies before Jack and Jill as they begin a well-earned vacation following their first adventure in the American West. But as their train rumbles along the tracks, the sudden crack of a pistol and the clatter of hooves marks the beginning of a new journey that will take them even deeper into the lawless frontier!
After saving a local mayor from certain doom, Jack and Jill begin a mission to build a railroad that connects his small town to the civilized world. But as they pacify the unforgiving terrain, Raging Buford and his band of thieves stand in their way at every turn.
Using a simple but innovative bonus system that allows players to choose the best strategy for completing a level, you'll have to work smart to rebuild settlements and think fast to keep the outlaws at bay. Fun time management game. Difficult enough to keep my mind occupied and easy enough where it doesn't get frustrating. It's a fun break from "real work." Love these games!1 found this helpful
Rebuilding the town, getting rid of the bandits, and helping the settlers. I don’t know if anyone can get three stars on all levels with the ‘Normal’ mode. I have to give up halfway and switch to ‘Easy’ mode. There are too many tasks that need to be performed at the same time. The owl can be slightly tricky to find, but if you find the owl and want to replay the level to get three stars, you don’t have to find the owl for the second time.1 found this helpful
I really enjoyed this game! Some of the levels were quite challenging, which made it all the more fun. It runs okay on steam deck as well, with the mouse pad acting as the cursor. Can definitely recommend this, and I'm excited to play more of these games!
This game is a continuation of Golden Rails: Tales of the Wild West. It brings in a few new mechanics and slightly changes old ones. And it's not an easy walk anymore - levels get strategically deeper and more difficult, most of them requiring two attempts to get 3 stars. But the storyline is not as good as in the previous part. And the 2 final achievements are grindy again, had to repeat one level for 12 times to build 100 gardens, which was really boring. 9/10
