Streamlined construction tools and multiple play modes—from campaign and scenarios to cooperative multiplayer—let you focus on strategic decisions while watching your economic powerhouse grow during the Industrial Revolution.
Railway Empire 2 features bigger, more detailed and lively maps than ever before. The whole of the US and continental Europe are covered in two huge, sprawling maps, whilst more detailed maps put the focus on specific regions of each continent. Improved track construction helps you focus on the important decisions as you drive the economy and help the growth of the cities. Signals are placed automatically, bridges can hold up to 4 tracks and the expandable train stations can now have up to 8 tracks.
Choose from 6 different characters to lead your railway company, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Play the 5-chapter campaign or choose any of the 14 different scenarios. Set your own difficulty in the fully customisable Free Play mode or build the perfect rail network in construction mode. Tackle the competition of your railway empire together with friends in Co-op Multiplayer. You can also board one of your trains and gaze upon the scenery passing by as the iron horse speeds along the tracks while you sit back and enjoy the view.

Railway Empire 2 features attractive visuals and engaging simulation gameplay with good depth that rewards learning, but players consistently report frustrating bugs that severely hamper progress, including trains failing to load or unload goods at designated locations and phantom route blockages that require deletion and rebuilding to fix. The tight timelines in challenges are compounded by these mechanical issues, making some scenarios feel unfairly difficult rather than genuinely challenging.
Great visuals and neat gameplay, but some of the mechanics are just broken. Weird blockages to routes that are removed if you just delete and rebuild the route the same as it was. Other issues with how goods are distributed - to open up some locations for use you have to manufacture and and transport good to the site to "open" it for resource extraction. In MANY cases your train will go to a location with the needed good and just circle back and forth without ever loading it. In other cases you where you manually load the good (tell each freight car what specific good to pick up) it never unloads at the place the good is needed - it just circles back and forth. Many challenges are on a tight timeline, and the challenge kicks you off the scenario instead of extending timelines and such. I got sick of having to set all my warehouses to only house a specific good in 3 cities (to increase demand) set all my trains to only transport that specific good, only to watch train after train of "bread" or "meat" pull loaded into the station, and the challenge timer remain at "8/12" and the train pulls back out of the station without a change, until the challenge expires and you have to st…2 found this helpful
