Defend!
- Summon a mosh pit of unique and balanced units to defend your starter unit.
- Construct bases for your troops by claiming terrain tiles and building walls with different strengths and effects.
- Pause the game and order your units around during stopped time! We don’t judge.
Offend!
- Attack fortresses and plunder their treasure.
- Side grade your units in order to preemptively cause plagues and mass vampirism.
- Summon powerful guardian units to massacre enemy troops before they can even reach your base.
Anticonventionalism!
- Don’t have laborers to gather resources for you? No problem! Just click any resources you find into submission.
- Click enemy units until they convert to your team, or just click them to death as well.
- Use special walls to spread map terrain all over the world. Your enemies cannot reach you if there’s a sea of lava in the way.
Oh gosh, what?
- Blood moons dump nasty creatures onto the field who don’t discriminate.
- DO NOT send any units past the map border. DO NOT.
- Be careful of any talent points you pick up, champ!
Invest in chaos!
- Crank up different setting to make the game more difficult, increasing your score, which increases how many talent points you get.
- Use talent points to radically change how you play the game; invest in talents which cause friendly units to reflect projectiles, enemy conversion chain gangs, the unit singularity, gnomes to expel from corpses, and much more.

✦ AI summary
Grand Attrition is a budget indie strategy game with divisive appeal. Players praise its flexible gameplay, unique unit mechanics, talent system, and customization options that allow varied playstyles, though some find the early difficulty curve underwhelming. The main criticism is the retro pixel art aesthetic, which players either accept as charming or find genuinely unappealing, though opinions on gameplay quality range from decent time-waster to engaging strategy experience worth playing on sale.
Generally, games that used retro graphics utilized distinctive features and characteristics to accentuate their gaming experience. In this context, Grand Attrition is absolute garbage and probably the ugliest game on Steam. The gameplay is decent at best and far from a memorable experience, though even if it was an extremely enjoyable experience I would still stay away from it because well... would you still eat an enjoyable meal if it was covered in s**t? Save yourself from bleeding eyes and a forgettable game, there are many excellent RTS games at the same price point like Rusted Warfare – RTS and Mindustry just to name a few. Thank me later.37 found this helpful
Fun free-form strategy game that doesn't lock you into one form of playing the game. A good way to pass the time with plenty of features to experiment with. The game has great potential and plenty of room for improvisation and improvement.7 found this helpful
Okay, I'm not a big review writer but I found this game and thought I'd give it a go. Things I liked: Over all this isn't too bad for a cheap indie game. All of the units (Normal, special, or otherwise) are actually unique with their own functions and purposes, which was rather nice. Map size goes from small to rather absurdly large. Honestly most of the standard stuff is par for the course but the things I really enjoyed are the Side-grades, the forts, the special units, and most importantly, the Talents. The side grades are all just that, sidegrades, they really change up how you can tackle a game and once I figured out that I could do that to the unit spawning buildings it really helped. The forts are these “Structures that contain “loot” that can be very beneficial for the rest of your current run. Then the special units, Some of them are spawnable units that cost a lot of resources but they all do different things aside from just attacking whats ever in front of them. Then you have the non-spawnable units which are also strange and fun to use. Finally the talents, I really love the talents in this game and it’s one of the main reasons I keep playing. They are a ton of…7 found this helpful
The graphics made me want to kill myself. The gameplay made me want to live. Gets good around difficulty 4 or 5, but before then is kind of meh. The best strategy is to turtle after difficulty 8. Gnomes get stupid tiny and can ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ your entire army. Wizards need to be nerfed. They can crap out 100000 magic buzz saws every second and are only stopped by barbarians. The inter-unit combat and boner dilating playstyle customization make the game worth it. Needs more content. Wait for a sale.6 found this helpful

Please follow United Critics for quality reviews
Good things:
This game has a very basic pixel art style but I like pixels. There are talents you can unlock in the game and use them to change how you play each time. You can use resources to build units and buildings. Someone tried to experiment by trying to mash together 5 types of games and ideas from other 5 popular games into one. There are difficulty settings, max number of units player and enemy can have, how long the day and night lasts, how many nights must pass before blood moon event and how many nights you have to survive in order to win so you can play the game in any way you want.
Bad things:
This is a clicker game with extra steps mashed in an RNG generator. There are instructions but they are just a sentence and there is no tutorial as that would take time to program and it is far easier and faster to just create an RNG generator and write a sentence of instructions. Your commander moves super fast while all other units moves super slow. Enemies just spawn randomly instead of coming from some sort of a base or …
