Think a bullet-hell game Ghosts 'n Goblins, Metal Slug, Cuphead, and a plethora of other games mixed into one. ALSO! Added bonus, you can switch directions allowing for more creative game-play. Albeit there isn't a LOT of secrets in this game, it's fun to come back to the stage after and replay to get other special perks or just to farm some coin for more unique items. You basically get some boosts, armors, special pets to help you etc.HONESTLY this game is pretty great for what it is, but I do have a bit of a bias as I got it for $1 on sale. $10 isn't terrible, but I feel a more fair price is $5. If you have an ARCADE CABINET this would go GREAT with it. That's the kind of game I see it as and so pretty excited about that. IF this is the type to of game that appeals to you then you WILL like it.

Gryphon Knight Epic is a refreshing interpretation of the classic side-scrolling shoot-'em-up formula, combining fast-paced arcade action with a fantasy setting that helps it stand apart from the genre's usual focus on spaceships and futuristic warfare. Developed and published by Cyber Rhino Studios, the game follows the story of Sir Oliver, a legendary knight who has already completed his heroic journey and settled into retirement. When mysterious events begin affecting former heroes and allies throughout the kingdom, Oliver mounts his trusted gryphon, Aquila, and embarks on a new adventure that sends him across dangerous lands filled with monsters, rival champions, and powerful bosses. The game's greatest strength lies in how it blends old-school shooter mechanics with light adventure elements. Players navigate horizontally scrolling stages while avoiding enemy fire, overcoming environmental hazards, and battling waves of increasingly dangerous opponents. While the foundation is rooted in traditional arcade gameplay, the inclusion of branching routes, hidden treasures, and secret collectibles gives levels more depth than simply moving from left to right. Exploration becomes an i…

A bullet-hell with plenty of charm and reasons to get frustrated: an adequate combination!

A cool side scrolling shut em up that has one critical flaw, in my opinion. You seem to move somewhat too slow and janky and dont have enough maneuvering space. You can switch directions where you can move, which is an interesting feature, but because of the above issue it becomes more of a burden, since you have to get used to maneuvering the way the game wants. I initially tried playing with a controller and found that the dash was unresponsive. It could be an issue with my xbox controller, but just a heads up, as it was better with the keyboard. And that saddens me, because everything else is nice. The design is nice, it has a nice story, its presentation is decent, it has a good variety of upgrades and unlockables, a good variety of enemies, bosses. Some level design and some balancing in certain areas could have been done a bit better, but it would have been perfectly manageable if not for the movement issue. But that one core issue takes away too much to the point where it will feel more of a grind. You keep feeling its not you making the mistakes, but the game bogging you down. I would give it a neutral score, but if I was asked if you should try it Id recommend checking…
