Hyper Knights

[h1]My Experience[/h1] Hyper Knights is a button mashing hack and slash strategy game where you defeat rival knights and conquer the land region by region. It has a strategic layer like Mount & Blade, but the battles play out more like Dynasty Warriors. With the other reviews I had a solid idea of what I going into, and was expecting worse but thankfully it's not all that bad. I still have my issues with it though. I played with a controller, controls were okay but I found them a little odd in places a few places. Again, not an issue. I've read other reviews that had serious issues with the MKB control scheme though. I also should mention this was my PS4 controller, and I had to manually enable steam input to properly register. The gameplay can be split into strategic and tactical layers, so I'll start by talking about the tactical layer. I found the moment to moment fighting fairly straightforward but still a little annoying. In battles you can fight both grunts and knights. Grunts are simple and split into Minions, Shielders and Archers. The main way to attack them is to match the combo on top of their head. I had so much fun playing this game when I was younger!!! Unfortunately it's abandoned and the late game got really boring. I felt soo let down when I conquered the last castle and just nothing happened.

Bit short if you play too aggressive, but a fun game nontheless. Better off playing slowly.

The games chill tbh, switch brain off kinda thing. The annoying parts is the camera going everywhere, it should just stay on your character or just move a little. other then that itsd cruisy

PC game designed solely around a controller, store page makes zero effort to make this known before purchase, Sure, keyboard does work, but the dev created the weirdest control layout i've ever seen and of all the games on PC, that have controller support as a additional feature, and not the 'best experience' feature... this game doesn't even have control support on by default, you had to go to game property settings to turn it on before playing. It's like it's made by someone who says things like "I didn't know PC's had mice" followed by "I didn't even know you can use controllers either" fighting the knights is a tad finnicky... i'm still not 100% sure what the deal is... i assume you dodge red arcs, the blue arcs i assumed you had to be in to attack because even pressing X (blue) and Y (yellow) in correct sequence nothing happened often... until i just started dogding first, and then doing it, which seems to be the only way tomake them react to the combos... so still no idea what the blue arc zone fully does. questionable design, just doesn't seem that great after a while, but then during a big battle for a castle all my inputs starting getting heavily delayed, the kind …

I probably could have beaten this game in less than 2 hours, but I was cooking my food for the week and left the game on. Basically, once you get trebuchets, the game is over for the AI. Trebuchet clears out all troops in buildings and roamers. Then, just max out the amount of knights you can have and then manually send them to each region to conquer. The only region that wouldn't work with this was the "main castle" region, but I just built a trebuchet in the neighboring region and it killed all troops over time. Then, I manually raided it all myself. Other than that, the game can be fun. I liked dashing around and combo-ing enemies.
