About Hard Glide

Hard Glide is an experimental fast-paced arcade game with inertial mouse control only (but you can also use a gamepad or mouse+WASD). A small fragile bot has been awakened among the bizarre world of machines, driven by the commands of the mysterious Mainframe, he must overcome increasingly difficult levels filled with a variety of hostile bots and dangerous obstacles, and fulfill his main Goal. This is what his Program says.

The controls in the game are a little unusual, but quite simple:
  • move the mouse to control the movement of your character
  • press and hold down the left mouse button to shoot and lock the sight in one direction, regardless of the movement direction
  • while shooting, you can rotate the sight on 180 degrees by pressing the right mouse button
  • transferring objects (keys) and moving platforms at transit stations also occurs by holding down the left mouse button
  • if you need a hint where the level goals are, just click on the middle mouse button (wheel)

When creating this game, I was inspired by arcade games of the past, I tried to get closer to the same adrenaline-pumping gameplay experience, but with the addition of modern graphics and effects. The game is aimed at those players who love action games of dexterity and skill.

There may be a handful of puzzles in the game but that wasn't what really drew me to post about it here (and YouTube). The game is mainly a fast-paced arcade shooter. In the game you control a little robot with your mouse (only). You shoot, evade and maneuver around the level, enemies and obstacles with your mouse. It reminds me of older arcade games where you moved your ship or in a similar aspect, so there is some nostalgia present as well. Little robot (you) needs to explore and survive these post-apocalyptic robot-controlled areas. The other robots don't seem too friendly. Some even have red smoke coming out of them and all. Even with the red smoky robots chasing you with bad intent, little robot has to collect all the blue orbs, shoot the red bad robots and get to the next level where there are more red robots and some even bigger ones too! There are challenges and obstacles that'll make you device strategies i…

(Reviewed when I reached Stage 3 Level 1, just after the first boss of the game) Pros: - Gameplay is fun after getting used to it. I do have issues with how shooting is handled (can only rotate turret 180 degrees, shoot only where you're facing), but it remains to be seen if it is a skill issue on my part or if it will be better on subsequent playthroughs. - Can get challenging as well, and not the frustrating challenging kind, the actually challenging kind. There are parts of the game where it's a cycle (think moving platforms), the enemies look reasonable enough. - Playing on UW 3840x1600, I don't see any UI problems. Neutral - Probably should expose the FPS limit in settings instead of having to crawl through the .ini files. I got around 80 FPS on a 3060ti on 3840x1600. - I can't tell if the music is good, but it is definitely not bad or annoying. Cons - The camera pans out anytime you move, depending on your speed. Faster means farther zoom out. However, in this game you constantly have to change speed to avoid obstacles, meaning the camera will keep on panning out while playing. This actually made me feel queasy. I do get motion sickness while traveling, however I do wish th…

I love this game, it's pretty simple to play. You just need to dodge enemies and their projectiles while avoiding hitting walls and obstacles. To be honest, I hated the controller at first, but after playing for a while, I started to get used to it. Once you understand the controls, it becomes easier to move around and have fun.
