[h1]Short Review[/h1] BARRIER X is a brutally fast dodge-and-shoot game that stopped being fun for me around level two and never really recovered. The visuals are technically impressive but become a full-on eye strain assault the moment the speed picks up, and the difficulty curve is punishing without offering much in return. The 60-second survival requirement for 100% completion is also exactly as painful as it sounds. I don't recommend this one. I only came back after finishing Lilac 0 (another difficult game), thinking maybe a fresh perspective would help. It didn't. Some games age better in your memory than they do on a second playthrough, but BARRIER X is just inherently flawed. [b]The visuals.[/b] On paper, BARRIER X looks impressive. Simple game, simple mechanics, quite fun! I honestly didn't expect much of it, but because the game loops is extremely quick (you die and you can spam almost instantaneously) I kept trying and trying until I start beating the levels. Still working on the 100% completion though. Fair warning: You will die, A LOT, SO MANY TIMES, in all levels. The main mechanic stays the same (avoiding crashes), but each level introduces a new rule, and it takes time and practice to adapt. This may cause frustration on some people, so just be aware before you buy it. It supports ultrawide monitors. I've played this on a 3440x1440@180 fps, and also on my Steam Deck. You will enjoy it if you don't feel frustrated.

It’s a good game with nice vibes but it’s very very hard, which gets exhausting when you fail too much so I ended up refunding it
