About Hearthlands
Hearthlands is a medieval/fantasy city-building real time strategy game in which you take a role of a king in a procedurally generated world. You can not control your subjects directly; instead you focus on city-building, resource management, diplomacy, magic and other things a typical king deals with on a daily basis. The game is very flexible: you can build a powerful realm and rule the lands with an iron grip, or establish a humble fishermen village. Or create a trading empire. Or found a small, but well-defended outpost or a raider's camp. Or become a host of a wizard's manor. All characters, from a humble hauler to a powerful wizard have their own minds and behavior patterns. Sometimes it is interesting just to watch people scurry about minding their own business.
Features:
- Build a medieval city;
- Play the game the way you like it: experiment with sandbox settings or play a campaign mode (ex. Polish localization);
- Keep your people happy by providing them with necessary resources and services;
- Gather resources, produce goods and build industries;
- See reports and tune up your economy;
- Build an army and protect your city from monsters and invasions;
- Trade and conduct diplomacy with neighbouring realms, or go to war with them;
- Research technologies and cast spells;
- Challenge yourself by going after one of the many achievements.

Hearthlands, developed and published by Four White Cats, is a city-building and management game that leans heavily on classic design sensibilities while introducing a more relaxed, simulation-driven approach to governing a medieval-fantasy settlement. It doesn’t chase the complexity or spectacle of modern strategy titles; instead, it focuses on creating a living system where your role is less about issuing constant commands and more about shaping the conditions in which your town can grow. This shift in perspective gives the game a distinct rhythm, one that prioritizes observation and planning over micromanagement. At its foundation, Hearthlands is about building a functioning settlement from the ground up. You establish resource chains, construct homes and production buildings, and ensure that your population has access to food, work, and basic services. What sets it apart is the way these systems operate. Citizens are not directly controlled; they make their own decisions based on available resources and their assigned roles. This creates a sense of autonomy within the simulation, where the town evolves in response to the structures you put in place rather than through constant …2 found this helpful
Generic indie city builder with some basic generic fighting. I know it is almost 10 years old, but it is utterly skipable now.2 found this helpful
Kept me up till 2AM playing. So if you don't want this to happen don't get it. Totally fun medieval city management game. But there is some kind of BUG with the SAWMILLS. The way around this is to have Woodcutters on a dedicated road NOT connected to your city with a warehouse at the end that will store your wood. From that warehouse make another dedicated road with Sawmills to connected to another warehouse to store your planks. From there make a road connecting to your city with the furniture makers close by to take the planks and make furniture. This usually solves that so that your economy doesn't crash out.1 found this helpful
Cute game, nothing flashy but very enjoyable.
Solid game. The campaign starts easy but gets increasingly harder, took me a while to finish. Custom games make it really worth it.
Great game!!! Hope there is a DLC or Hearthlands 2 one day.
