Heroes Never Lose: Professor Puzzler's Perplexing Ploy

This is an artistic clone of *Super Puzzle Fighter* from PS1 & a grandchild of classic Sega game [url=store.steampowered.com/app/34285/Columns]Columns (1990)[/url] with strong competitive emphasis. It's basically a mix of tetris & match-3 concepts enriched with bonuses & tricky debuff techniques that you can throw at your rival (you earn them with your flawless performance) to clutter his field of action & make him fail in the hasty action. The most fun I get arise certainly from the cool design & brilliant animations - there is a bunch of original super-heroes (poking at usual cliches) brilliantly thought out & depicted with their themed rooms (where the matches take place), excellent voice-over signature phrases (often upsetting & mean in the most jolly way) & 'super-powers' they constantly harass you with. It can be played against the AI (which is very tough at the hardest difficulty) or humans in both local & online multiplayer modes, with joypad or keyboard.

I have played Super Puzzle Fighter for over 20 years now, on a very frequent basis. This game is clunky, confusingly overcomplicated, and totally missing the charm of SPF2. I appreciate the effort in them trying to release a modern non mobile version by totally ripping off puzzle fighter, but it just is no substitute what so ever. Stay away imo.

This is a welcomed Puzzle Fighter II-inspired game. The mechanics are pretty much the same, with the addition of special attacks to spice things up. The character design is amazing, and the animations look great. It looks like an adaptation of a cartoon series! What would really make the game better is to have a nicer drop algorithm, because in the current state of things, this makes the game too hard and too much relying on chance, as opposed to Puzzle Fighter. By that, I mean 2 things: firstly, that "breakers" appear more steadily (sometimes 2 or 3 will appear at the very beginning of the game, where they're pretty much useless, and then it'll take forever for a new one to appear, filling up your grid for way too long); secondly, that when your opponent makes "timer blocks" appear, chunck of blocks of the same colors appear, because otherwise it is WAY too hard to clean up. The game is still in Early Access, so I'm hopeful that those things will change someday as they are only of a tweaking matter, and otherwise the game is super fun!

It is a retro superhero fight Dr mario game. Xbox360 pad works out of box. Game is well designed mechanically, with the ability to fuse squares of same colored blocks which becomes attacks when cleared. Attacks dump a bunch of random tiles on a timer in the enemy screen rather than attack hit points which is both clever but also very obvious way of handling the combat mechanic. I like it, clean and fair. The timer ensures that your attack dont immediately give your foe ammo for a counter attack with all the randomly fused blocks. Early Access: Game has been on early access for a long time. Dev team seems to have abandonned updates.
