88 Heroes is a pretty fun platformer. Pick it up on sale, it's not worth the asking price3 found this helpful
This game has its charm in its presentation and gimmicks, but that's all it has. While the gimmick is 88 different characters with powers bordering on useful to useless, the rest of the game is tedious and frustrating. Lets start with the most abhorrent problem, the screen is cluttered by an overlay of the main villain watching the characters move about the level. This is charming but ultimately makes it hard to see, especially since they animated the villain's goons running in the foreground BLOCKING the screen, with rare instances of one tripping and unplugging the monitor, leaving you completely blind. There is no option to remove this, but there should of been an option to at least reduce its size a bit. The characters are mostly references with a few original ones sprinkled in, the DLC also adds a few extra from other titles. The frustrating thing is they relied more on the joke of the characters than to make functional characters. A not insignificant amount of characters are either unplayable or inconsistent. Each character has their own physics and so you cannot get comfortable with how a single character plays, as they all are different sizes, different speeds, differ…2 found this helpful
what did they mean by the title 🤔

when i was little, we only had 1 hero and that was ronald reagan. he's not in this game.
This game is awesome! The characters are unique and funny. Their abilities are diverse... some can even cause you to cheat and circumvent the level in different ways. While all the achievements are comically centered around the number 8--like die 8 times, 88 times, etc.--multiple playthroughs will be required. This is my only gripe about the game. I do not want to attempt 88 rooms to see if I can make it with 8 heroes left, ultimately fail, and then have to start that attempt all the way from the beginning. Besides this obstacle towards 100%ing the game, this game rocks! Laser Kittie is my spirit animal!
