An odd middle-expansion, but still the high Heroes V quality
For some reason, this expansion was not patched as much as the main game after the last expansions release. Which means threat level / the game sugesting if the enemy is easy, normal, or hard to beat is not present. However, this expansion does have caravans between your unit buildings and your cities, which is much appreciated. Secondly, the story feels very much like it just stops in the middle without delivering a narrative conclussion to a specific arch, as the final boss is not really an important antagonist to any of the characters involved. So you need at least the final expansion, Tribes of the East, to feel a sense of satisfaction from a story perspective. Thirdly, new "Red Haven" units are introduced, but you cannot recruit them in this, as that is first something you are able to do in the next expansion, leaving them in an odd situation in this one. I like that they added a new faction with cool skills. The only thing that sucks is that they do not get enough shooters early game

Heroes of Might & Magic V: Hammers of Fate is an expansion that meaningfully improves and expands the already strong foundation of Heroes of Might & Magic V. Rather than simply adding a handful of maps or cosmetic content, the expansion introduces an entirely new faction, fresh campaigns, additional gameplay mechanics, and several important improvements that enhance both single-player and multiplayer experiences. For fans of turn-based fantasy strategy games, Hammers of Fate feels like a substantial continuation of the original adventure, offering more tactical depth and replay value while preserving the addictive gameplay loop that made the base game so successful. The most important addition is the Fortress faction, a kingdom of dwarves living within frozen mountain strongholds. This faction immediately changes the strategic flow of the game because its armies focus heavily on defense, durability, and battlefield endurance rather than speed or overwhelming offense. Fortress units are designed to survive long engagements, allowing players to slowly wear down enemies while maintaining strong defensive formations. The faction’s unique Rune Magic system adds another layer of tactica…
