game has lots of bugs and crashes. ironically the "tides of darkness" expansion causes a lighting glitch where the game will suddenly only display dark shadows making the game near unplayable. sometimes you can toggle between windowed mode and full screen mode to work around the bug but sometimes you can't. seems like some sort of compatibility bug with Windows 11 and it doesn't seem like the game developers have any interest in ever fixing the bug. if you like the Heros of Might and Magic franchise it scratches the itch, but mostly its frustrating to be over an hour in on a custom game and suddenly unable to play it anymore.

This game doesn't work on Windows 11. I tried all the recommended fixes in multiple iterations and combinations but nothing works. I've probably spent an hour trying and all I get is a black fullscreen with only the cursor visible. Audio works, but no image. It's deeply frustrating. Until Ubisoft fixes this game's compatibility, don't bother buying this game as it is unplayable unless you have an old machine running an older version of Windows.

As 2026 game is working fine and had no problem to install it, also there is a patch made by some people, which you can find in the fixes thread, it fixes some of the stuff like the notorious Azkaal fight in the inferno campaign, bugged abilities and lets you change your hero affinity. I finished the entire original story and dlc on hard, a second time btw, a few years ago i played it on my 3060 laptop.
