Found this game by searching through Aegon Games tag on Steam, enjoyed both their other horror/puzzle games "Door in the Basement" and "Astray" so decided to give this one a chance. The atmosphere isn't as strong overall in Infectis but it's certainly present, just feel like more ambience sounds or music might help, it's at times way too quiet. Visually especially for a Unity based game it's solid for sure and runs perfectly, some nice lighting/shadow spoops we're a nice subtle effect. The story isn't anything groundbreaking but it fits the overall narrative and even though I've heard it many times I still enjoy this sort of thing. Gameplay wise it's mostly puzzles with some light running/hiding sections. The puzzles are right at the level which I can have fun and not get frustrated, but not too easy that it's not satisfying, great job in that regard. Level design I think is the best of the three games not overly complex and fun to explore. It's a little bit slow paced and basic mechanically at times, but the passion is clearly there and it gave me at least one good scare honestly. It's a tad short on content but especially on sale it's well worth it imo, entertaining puzzle/horror…3 found this helpful
It's not bad, albeit quite basic. There's nothing too scary but they do set up something of an atmosphere and there's just enough decent puzzling that provides just enough friction to keep you engaged. Certainly not worth full price but it's regularly over half off and it nearly justifies that price given there's a good 2 hours or so of playtime here, but it's unfortunately just not enough. One of the big problems here is the monster is just not scary. They go out of your way to show you the monster up close right at the start and any sort of mystery or menance is completely removed in one fell swoop. And then when you actually do encounter the monster later on it becomes readily apparent that the level designer did not count on having a monster in play. There's a sense here that they designed a creepy atmospheric puzzler and somewhere along the line, likely towards the end, somebody said "this needs a monster". So they put in a very basic AI, hit detection, and scatter boxes to hide in all over the very narrow corridors you're expected to proceed through. But it doesn't work. The player will very quickly realise the only way to progress is to run right by the monster, ab…2 found this helpful
What are the people that complain about the run and hide gameplay being sprung on you out of nowhere smoking, the game hints at it almost right away. Anyways, Infectis is an Amnesia style, combat-free survival horror game, no more, no less. It does some things quite well but in other places the low budget of the game really shows through. Some stuff I feel would improve the game quite a bit is to make some interactable items in dark areas easier to spot. And the ending really should have some music. Ambience works fine for the exploration and stealth stuff, but a climax really could use something a bit more exciting.2 found this helpful
This is the third Aegon game I've played after Astray and Lazaret. It's my least favorite so far but I still enjoyed it. Most of the puzzles made sense and with enough exploration and thought I was able to figure them out. I'd say it's easier to know what to do next than RE Remake. The game isn't super scary but it has a good creepy vibe. So far all three Aegon games have played/felt like the Amnesia games but with puzzle that make more sense and fewer bugs than I experienced playing through the Amnesia series. I got this game on discount and it took me about 4 hours to beat it and I feel I got a good value for my money.
I really have no idea why there are not more positive reviews for this game. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is both well optimized and well designed with interesting puzzles and a really cool environment. It reminded me a lot of Amnesia, but is much better than Amnesia in my opinion. And this is coming from someone who played Amnesia Dark Descent for several years. The frame rate is solid and there are lots of places where you can save the game anytime you want. You can also remap the controls. The monster is also pretty creepy and created just enough tension to know that someone else was in the house with you, but not enough to ruin the puzzle solving element of the game. I see some people complain about the second half of the game where the monster appears more so than the first half. But still he is pretty easy to outrun and hide from. Overall, this is one my favorite puzzle solving games and I highly recommend it.
A pleasant surprise. This game is the second horror game developed by Aegon, and it is a shocking improvement from their first. It is impressive, especially considering Aegon only consists of two brothers. It is not perfect, but it is still a solid and enjoyable experience. Pros: -Graphically impressive and beautiful. -Eerily atmospheric. -Uses good sound design to perfectly set the mood and enhance the uneasy atmosphere. -Good story revealed throughout. -Solid script writing. -Great puzzles littered throughout the relatively large map. -Good inventory and save system. -Plays great with a minimal amount of bugs, if any. Cons: -WAY overpriced for a 2-3 hour experience. -It is not very scary. -Stealth sections are usually underwhelming, especially since there is a lack of them in the first half of the game. -Could have used more characters in its script. What they had was still good, but it could easily loose your interest. -Pacing could have been improved. Overall, if the game is on sale and you have some time on your hands, try it out. It provides you with a fun puzzle-solving adventure with some horror elements sprinkled throughout. It may not be the most impressive indie game…
