Infinite Links

Solid game for the price. It's no final fantasy, but it will scratch that JRPG itch. 7/10 They need to explain the elements and setting up your talent board thing better.

Infinite Links is like a lot of other Kemco games. You control a small party that quickly gets swept up into events, yada yada yada...you don't honestly play these for the plot do you? It's very basic and reads very similar to other Kemco games. However the game has some fundamental issues that have plagued other Kemco games, but this time it feels worse. Battles are still badly balanced unless you grind all day or use the premium currency. Thankfully they drop the premium currency very very often which is a small plus. However even with it, you can't buy good weapons (like previous games) or even good stat increases. Instead you can buy a bean which increases 2 random stats. You can easily get two stats you are not using on the characters with your setup, making it a waste. Oh and boss battles are still raise difficulty to 11 like other of their games, but instead of addressing that, this time they have regular enemies do that too. Their fix? Let's just restore your HP after every battle. MP though is not restored so you can easily run low. Or you can buy a premium item to make MP restored after every battle (see a pattern now?) The game themselves could be a worth it endeavor, IF NOT FOR WHAT YOUR ACTUAL GOAL IS IN THAT GAME. I will spare you the details, as it's disgusting. My next try with an Exe game. This time it's Infinite Links. What do you get with this game? A very very very casual JRPG. Don't expect anything even close to a real JRPG. It is more like a self running demo. For someone who started playing with Rogue, Ultima and later FF this is a parody. Only that you can't laugh about it (and it cost you). That even the devs knew that this isn't a real game shows that you can fastforward every dialog. I started this game in Hard modus. And after playing a a short time just autobattled my way through it. Why? because your party is overpowered within minutes. For every little thing you get a reward....you won a fight...reward, if you killed the same enemies a few times...reward. For every 3 fights you get points for the special shop with items to make you near invincible. You may know the rule...a new game you go out of town and grind for 1 hour to get your party to level 3 or 4 with regular visits of the local inn after each fight. Not with this one. You party gets autohealed...and early on you can buy a nice item (special shop) that restores your MP after each fight. I enjoy the presentation and a lot of the accessibility and QoL features, but this is a painfully boring game. The narrative doesn't have much personality or depth. The dungeons are super samey. And the combat is fun for a few hours but then becomes a slog that I tended to fast-forward through. Theres an in-game shop where you can spend a rare currency you earn for powerful items that boost xp and stats and stuff like that, which I found fun. But it's not enough to redeem this game. Infinite links just doesn't have much going for it. After the sixth generic ruin dungeon or so I stopped playing. If you're really craving a generic jrpg, I guess it can scratch that itch? But there are just so many better and cheaper indie titles on steam that do a better job that I can't recommend this.
