Jewel Match Solitaire Fantasy - Collector's Edition

This is my initial review after playing for 2 hours - It's really pretty much like the other Jewel Match games. The game mechanics seem to be mostly the same. The new addition of having people give you quests to complete is minor. You still play solitaire hands. One thing that seems to me to be different is how they calculate your winning rewards. Especially during challenges, super sizes, match 2, etc. It feels to me like the resulting gold is less than it used to be. And the game is still rigged to not give you the cards you need when you most need them. I expected that; it's always been part of Jewel Match. I recommend it to folks like myself that just want to play every Jewel Match that is released. To others, you may find it too grindy. Or become frustrated that the hands are rigged in the computer's favor. I bought it on sale, and I'd recommend you do the same. EDIT -- After playing for an additional 29 hours, let me point out how Stupid these new villages and quests are. Basically we are traveling morons that will do anything asked of us without question. We'll eat food that is suspected of being poisoned. We'll head into mines that are about to collapse. We'll rush into…

It's definitely old, but it would be better to call it Vintage. All I can say is that this is a LOT of solitaire. I've got 30 hours of play time in, and I think I'm maybe halfway through the offerings. The hands are generally well-balanced with very few super-easy and very few super-hard. Just enough to remind you how good the rest of it is. 10/10 as solitaire goes.

A good one-up-one-down solitaire game with 400 levels and a bunch of extra solitaire/game variants. Not quite as good as most from this series, but still a good solid game. There is a storyline element which didn't really interest me, but it wasn't annoying either.

good game plenty to do

This was a fun one for this series! The change up here comes from the fantasy theme, allowing for a few set short adventure stories when you reach towns on the map. These are pretty charming, giving some fun little story bits where you help random people with problems, which tend to spiral out into absurd directions. It was a fun idea, and while I would have liked to see this team do a proper solitaire RPG like their publsiher's Shadowhand and Ancient Enemy games, this was a breath of fresh air for these Jewel Match Solitaire games. Would like to see them mess around with the formula a bit more like this, since their attempts at gimmick levels can be more hit or miss.

The best, along with the two Regency Solitaires. (They're also two that have a plot, unlike other versions. But if the plots had been poorly executed, I certainly wouldn't have written them as the best. Probably, the two versions of Shadow Hand are also at high levels, but I haven't tried them yet). This version is perfect: from the animations to the frog selection. The frog, beautifully animated, is clearly visible (not the buttons of other versions). This version is not plagued by snares, strings, and frozen cards like other versions. The bonus games based on variations of the main game are excellent also. Forget the classic solitaire games, which have card spacing issues (the cards are too close to each other, the ones above the ones below. The only version not having this problem is Jewel Match Solitaire Collector's Edition, which, however, has a very, very annoying background shading). I pretend the classic solitaire games aren't there, also because the game survives very well without them. Rating: 9.5/10 (If the classic solitaire games had been made with the same care, the rating would have been 10.5/10)
