About Kami: Parade of Senses
A non-linear visual novel with Point & Click elements. Choose one of two protagonists and guide them through the bizarre rooms of the Conscious Space. Unravel mysteries, aid fellow sufferers, and fulfill tasks for the employees to earn their favor… or walk over heads to reach the finale as fast as possible. The choice is yours. Or is it?
The game is set in an alternative Europe during the latter half of the 20th century. Not long ago, a war known as the «Mindless War» finally came to an end. Against the backdrop of the adoption of the law on religious tolerance, a large number of religious organizations are being formed, one of which is the Order of Kami. The Order’s true goals, the core of its faith, and the history of its creation remain a mystery to all but a select few. While reading about this Order in the morning paper, our protagonist receives a letter: a job invitation. In a country ravaged by unemployment and having only recently finished rehabilitation from the scars of the Mindless War, they find themselves without alternatives. And so, they head to the interview. The job seems simple enough, requiring no prior experience. All they have to do is test a new development at the Institute of Advanced Research and Technology…
- Stress System. You are your protagonist. Your choice is their choice — until their stress level stays within limits. Once it exceeds those limits, you can no longer be sure you're doing what you actually want.
- Stressful situations may require decisive action. If your stress level is too high, negative thoughts will start to pop into your head. You will no longer think about helping others, only about how to end this nightmare as quickly as possible.
- Cigarettes, alcohol, and... Hugs? There are many ways to de-stress in the Conscious Space. But keep in mind that your hero might not like everything you pick. Choose wisely, or face the backlash.
- The Guide. Your personal assistant. She will track your tasks, suggest where to go in case of a dead end, and help you forget about all your troubles during breaks. Treat her well if you intend to rely on her help until the very end.
- Multiple Paths. Most tasks offer several ways to be completed. Think your choices through, as you’ll likely feel the weight of the consequences down the road. Keep that in mind before you murder your next innocent victim or agree to join a dubious adventure.

~ A Thrilling and Intriguing Game with a Unique and Unsettling Premise ~ My first thought was that this game reminded me a bit of American McGee’s Alice. There are frequent Alice in Wonderland themes throughout, and even the way you progress through the game and have to solve each room is reminiscent of Alice making her way through wonderland. Except you’re making your way through what appears to be a Freudian nightmare. Overtly at least, Freudian psychology makes up the framework for the premise of the story, but under the surface, there’s a case to be made that this game is more thematically Jungian. For instance, a bunch of characters (basically everyone not dressed in a straight-jacket or working at a desk) seem to represent a Jungian archetype. Shadow, Mother, Anima, Trickster, etc. This game is psychology heavy. And if you don’t know who Carl Jung is, or you’re unfamiliar with Freud’s Id/Ego/Superego model, half the game will go over your head. That’s not to say you won’t still have fun. Your decisions might just be less informed. The game begins with you receiving an invitation from your brother (or sister, depending on the difficulty level) to come to this institute …6 found this helpful
In short, pretty interesting game, there clearly are various paths you can take for certain quests (range is not that large though, with most rooms having binary or 3-way decisions, with 2 or 3 lacking any). Game does not have many endings, sitting at a as of now 4 or 5 that I could see (there may be secret ones I don't know of, but with the lack of new game+ as of now I find that it may be something for the future). TLDR 6.5/10. Now the longer version.
No clue why the hell they left an incredibly obvious hint to a big twist in the store page, maybe this is hindsight but having one of the last cutscenes in the screenshot roulette sounds like taking a shot at your own foot.
Game also has quite a few bugs, I don't know if it was a lack of intense QA or just the play testers not being great, I found a crash, found a softlock (fixed in literally the first patch), found various grammar errors (English version) and straight up exploits (you could get infinite cigarettes due to a minigame having no play cap, now patched) so wait up till a discount comes along and hope most of these get patched? Anyway I hoped the ways the game would change would be more major, ther…4 found this helpful
Very good game, with an interesting story and intriguing setting. It's not simply a visual novel, as it has many sections where you have to explore, talk with various people and figure out how to proceed. I liked how each room has different ways to solve it, based on your choices, your relationship with the characters and the stress meter. There are also several side-quests where you can learn more about the game's lore and characters. At the beginning you can choose to play as either of two siblings, Olivia and Oliver. There aren't many differences between the two of them but the games surely deserves a second playthrough so you can see the different ways to solve the rooms and reach other endings.2 found this helpful
