Kijutsu Rider is praised for its flashy, fast-paced combat with stylish interrupts and strong anime-inspired presentation that shows clear passion from its developer, with fans appreciating the momentum-driven mechanics and satisfying visual spectacle. However, players consistently criticize the game for feeling janky and unpolished even after patches, with bland level design, repetitive encounters, and core combat that feels overly simplistic and unrewarding, alongside technical issues like audio sync problems and low-quality UI that make it feel incomplete for its early access state.
I wish I could recommend this game since it's dripping with passion from its developer and at least trying to carve a niche in terms of combat flow. I do think the constant movement and sliding while taking your attack type into account to counter enemies is a really solid setup, and the meter system has just enough uses to make choices matter with it. It is FUN to do your strings and fly across the screen getting a big PUNISH, BREAK, etc. The character design is pretty strong and uses heavy shading in a way not many games are while also having fun choreography in cutscene fights. But even with three patches the game is just rough. The stages are bland corridors with nothing going on between enclosed encounters, enemies either get comboed to death or don't even interrupt their attack animations while being launched, the style meter seems vestigial and can drop from A or S to D on a dime, bosses force you away to dodge finnicky projectile barrages as you attempt to dash around them to get a Light Attack Punish, and I closed the game after being softlocked via being trapped in a combat arena after beating it twice in the same encounter. I also genuinely don't like the dialogue to the…2 found this helpful
Kijutsu Rider is a high-speed action title developed and published by OmegaMechAnimations that builds its identity around stylish combat, futuristic storytelling, and anime-inspired presentation. Focused heavily on mechanical skill and momentum-driven encounters, the game embraces a fast and aggressive design philosophy where success comes through mastering movement, timing, and offensive execution. Rather than pursuing open-world exploration or slower tactical systems, Kijutsu Rider stays committed to delivering an action-heavy experience centered around spectacle and combat mastery. The game takes place within a futuristic world facing destruction at the hands of a dangerous organization known as the Black Cross Conglomerate. Players step into the role of powerful warriors tasked with standing against overwhelming threats while uncovering a larger conflict unfolding beneath the surface. The story provides enough structure to support progression without interrupting the flow of gameplay too heavily. Narrative moments establish stakes and build atmosphere, but the experience clearly prioritizes combat and player performance over lengthy storytelling. Combat forms the foundation o…2 found this helpful
Its janky, repetitive in a non fun way and its boring. The game looks like a school project or tech demo. As a Rider fan its extra disappointing because we don't get games.1 found this helpful
Although its rough, I had a lot of fun with it! The storyline and the way the character's backstories (and the backstories themselves) are presented is really fun and welldone. I also like all the funny references to memes and other media. This is a very creative and fun spin on Kamen Rider and the tokusatsu genre. Also, its awesome that the creator is taking everyone's criticisms and suggestions to make the game better, I definitely think it has improved a lot since launch. Kijutsu Rider 2 when???
this game feels too simple its not interesting it might change later down the line but currently the combat feels too simple and it does not feel good to play it feels cheap too cheap and despite it being early access the potential of it getting better does not interest me since what it has on display is not worth any kind of money currently. Edit: this game is still too early to even feel functional most sounds in general are off sync and the visual basic and buggy. The UI looks low quality and adding a style meter that doesn't really matter because it doesn't really incentivize creative play since as stated previously the combat in its most basic form does not feel fun to play with.
Are you a Kamen Rider fan? Are you interested in supporting what is most likely a one-man dev team? Are you a person with enough Metacognition to Identify when you're being overly harsh to an indie title? if you answered yes to any of these just buy the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. I know Y'all have 15 bucks, Gaming is a fairly privileged hobby and at the time of writing this it's on sale don't listen to the haters. its FUN and I really want whoever made this to keep making Games. best way to do that? support them.
