Kimmy

Going in for a short game I'd get over with in an hour and a half or so, it all began with a bit of a wholesome aesthetic. I thought I had this VN pinned down in the first few minutes, but damn, was I so wrong. I did not imagine I would be so moved at the end. Dialogue is surprisingly engaging, a story about kids playing freely while the adult world holds them at bay. You need to explain the *right* rules of every game you tell a character you'd like to play, which seems like a disconnected mechanic at first. But those rules are boundaries, short and swift explorations of bonds, an introduction to socialization. It's sort of a parallel inversion of the adult world, completely full of rules that no one explains, weird and complicated, their lack of transparecy a motive for anger and sadness among the kids. But they play, and in that moment, they understand each other, and whatever the grown-ups think is irrelevant.

Cute typical visual novel game with a few choices that can be made. Hand drawn art is adorable. No replay ability. Suitable for younger audience. The music was lovely, and the character building was wonderful too. I learned about some new games I never knew the rules to haha. The end go dark, and I was moved. Cute game.

Pros - Cozy artstyle - Charming characters and dialog - Poignant story - Entirely playable with mouse. - Some replayability Cons - You buy toys and you choose the rules to play games but you don't actually play games. I think the developers missed a trick here for not implementing some mini-games. Overall recomended.

A lovely game with a gorgeous art style.

This is a really well presented, heartfelt story. The game starts off a bit slow but the narrative picks up pace fairly quickly. The setting is very convincing with all cultural practices and social issues hinted at/discussed adding to the authenticity.

I enjoyed this game, the story was emotional and captivating!
