About King of the Raft - A LitRPG Visual Novel Apocalypse Adventure
King of the Raft is a visual novel game. You can click through the story, select options, and hear immersive dialogue that matches the story. The story is about: Atlantis existed and the faction from our legends loved Earthlings. They departed, forgetting about Earth. A new faction sees our inferior species destroying the planet. They claim Earth as theirs, opening portals to flood the oceans to above 7000'. Zack is jet skiing in Florida when the apocalypse happens. He saves a damsel in distress, discovers freaky sea monsters, and creates a raft city. Zack must save the desperate, improve his base, and use the overlords reward system to bide his time.

Should you buy it? Short answer, no. There are better things even for free on Itch.io. Edit: They actually lowered the base price with 75% in one go a month after I wrote this review. On the one hand this was the price range I myself recommended. But a sudden, massive drop in price without any updates as to why makes it feel a bit off to me. It may be an honest reaction from the developer to the lower than expected reviews. But a cynical part of me says they never meant to sell it for 12 euro's and just jacked the price way up in hopes of fooling people with a discount on launch. If you are reading this Royal Guard: It would have been better to fix some issues or post an update as to what is happening. This just makes people who did buy your game for full price feel like crap. Back to the review: Long answer? Art: It is serviceable but nothing to write home about. The artwork is reused with a few new elements added to trick you into thinking they have drawn more than they actually did. A drawing of a woman yelling for help because she is drowning? Just slap a few monsters on it and you can reuse it 2 minutes later when she is attacked and killed. Voice-actors: There …8 found this helpful
actually enjoyed it. Its more of a visual book on audio than a traditional game though. I enjoyed it though.4 found this helpful

This 'litRPG' or Light RPG meaning you have valid path choices that end in different results is a misnomer. Additionally for all the 'chapters' involved the VN ends abruptly and does not indicate if there will be more added. Attempting to goto the publisher website is worthless as it goes to an Amazon novel affiliate site that has no actual association to the VN since even using their search engine to look for data ends with no results. At this time I have to remove a possible recommend and will be putting in a refund request since there is no valid developer access method.3 found this helpful
Interesting story at times, but lacking much at all in the way of player choice. It's just a single path railroad. At times it explains mechanics for in-game choices you will not actually have opportunity to make. It also stops rather suddenly and is clearly Chapter 1 of a larger story. Not terrible, but without any real player agency and given the short length it really doesn't measure up.1 found this helpful
Made it to the seventh chapter - good art, but strange, far-fetched plot, mary sue hero, almost linear gameplay and a very boring soundtrack from single melody. Sadly, cannot recommend!1 found this helpful
