The bird is no longer asking. In this first-person horror experience, you must master Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji to escape a procedurally generated nightmare. Answer correctly to survive, or let Polly Glot make you her final lesson.About This Game
Forget your daily streak, now you’re playing for your life.Learn Japanese or... Die! is a heart-pounding survival horror game that turns language learning into a literal deathmatch. Trapped in a shifting labyrinth of retro-style corridors, you are hunted by Polly Glot, the unhinged mascot of a language app gone wrong. She doesn't want your money, she wants your fluency... and maybe your soul. The Core Loop: Study or Suffer
To escape each level, you must locate 5 quizzes throughout the maze. You aren’t allowed to leave the screen until you get the answer right.Key Features:
- Linguistic Progression: Start with the basics of Hiragana, move into Katakana, tackle the mountain of Kanji, and finally attempt to master useless phrases that might just save your life.
- Procedural Nightmares: No two runs are the same. Our generation ensures a fresh, connected maze of terror every time you hit "Start."
- Retro Aesthetic: Experience 90s-style raycast graphics featuring animated sprites and a gritty, lo-fi atmosphere.

Very simple game with an interesting concept. I would have waited until I logged more play time before reviewing, but there really isn't much to this game. I played this on my steam deck, and it is playable, but the controls feel a little clunky. Unfortunately there is no control settings menu for the player to change the settings to better fit their play style. The game also crashed on me when I got to level 8, but it only did that once so I'm not sure if its a bug or just a random thing that happened. If you don't already know some hiragana, katakana or kanji, this game probably will not help you learn it. But if you already know how to read Japanese and want a somewhat chaotic way to practice, this game would be good for that. Overall, the game is exactly what it says it is, and I'm not mad about it, but I dont recommend this game if you want to actually learn Japanese. There are plenty of better games and resources available to learn japanese, many of which are free to access.8 found this helpful
