Legacy of Vane

Not a long game but it's fairly amusing and i'd consider it to be one of the hidden gems. Definitely worth the value for the price tag listed for it.

Fun little 10 hour RPG (that's 100%ing the content). Pros: -Good concepts for combat -Simple, but satisfying story -MC can different classes Neutral: -MC class choice is determined via quiz. It should have been more clear that was occurring. -Relic/Gem combining system is conceptually great, but needed a small rebalancing. (Explanation: You can earn shared spells through gems dropped by monsters, these also give stats and can be reused on a character. The collection rate is a bit too high to get all the spells you want, but was needed to restrict easily farmed stats. The collection requirements should have been dropped for easier access to the spells, but been limited to 1 use per character to prevent stat farming) -The game could use a little more rewarding side content, just a bit. Cons: -Combat spells can feel a bit too strong. Maybe I was using a broken class, but I could beat most bosses in 2-3 turns. -Battles (when using magic) end too quickly for interrupts to be meaningful. The only bugs I saw were a few tiles I should have been able to walk through, but couldn't or objects i could walk into.

Just finished playing the game and I have to say it was very very enjoyable. Even at full price it was a bargain. The game gave me a bit of the old Lufia games vibe with the IP system. The story itself while a cliffhanger does have a good enough ending to make it worth the play through. Though I do hope to see an actual conclusion for the story eventually. The twist at the end was great and look forward to seeing an eventual sequel. The music was well suited at all times and the opening music is just perfection.

Fun turn based RPG

A gem of a game. Engaging story, unique characters, creating jewels to give special abilities, great soundtrack...also, you can select for the action to wait as opposed to being active battle, which I really appreciate, b/c I like to think about my next move. Overall a fun game, which I finished in about 11 hrs (completionist). I really hope Vane 2.0 comes out some time b/c the ending was a cliff hanger!!

I didn't read the instruction for this game...Active Turn-based Combat...Meh I just like to think about my next turn and don't want to bash buttons. The story sounds interesting...but I'll never know ;-)
