In which you need to safely guide small creatures from a starting portal to an ending portal. But there’s one key difference. In the original Lemmings you would assign skills and abilities to the individual creatures, like climbing or digging. In Lems, the creatures run forward and it’s up to you to manually guide them with platforms in your hands. Think of it like a reverse platformer: Instead of making characters jump on platforms, YOU ARE the platforms and you’re keeping them on course. There are multiple types of platforms like a bouncing platform, reverse gravity, and so on. It’s an interesting spin on the classic Lemmings series. It’s very engaging as you often have to move and change platforms quickly, and the later levels require lots of precision. The game is $18, but it has over 50 levels to play. So if you enjoy the gameplay you’ll get your money’s worth. There’s a free demo you can download so you can try it before you buy, which is always great. So try out the demo and see if you like it.

I was expecting more of a puzzle game but I'm not disappointed. I think this style of gameplay would make for a great VR party game. Especially after a drink or three... All of the maps feel fair and balanced. When one of your little guys dies, you know it's because you messed up. This tickles that 'one more, just one more' urge which keeps you from wanting to exit the game. I personally love games that invoke this feeling. Speaking of our cute little guys... I'm not sure everyone will go for the cutsie/cartoony graphic style but I think it works well with the attitude of the game. It looks good in headset. The audio on the other hand... I didn't have any complaints on what was playing, it was lively and whimsical. Fitting for the game. The volume of the music and effects seemed to vary form level to level increasing in volume from the main menu. I'd like to see these leveled out. As for other things that could be better... The UI was a bit chaoti…

With its indirect controller gameplay and cute graphics, Lems brings something original to the growing VR market. Definitely worth checking out!

Recommended, with a caveat: For some reason, though there are 50 levels, only the first 30 are playable. That means there is only an hour's play here, which for the price caused me to refund.

You really feel empathy for the little fellows, going into life with too much enthusiasm for their own good. So it is with great sadness that you will watch them die many times. Some of those puzzles are a real challenge, and you will only succeed by trying and failing new strategies. Sometimes the sadness of death will turn into hilarity, when things didn't go as planned at all and you watch the little creatures being launched into space! Lems has a nice curve of difficulty, and you can also decide to collect the optional bonuses and try hardest modes to increase the challenge and replayability. The level design and game design are great. When you think you have figured out your winning strategy, the game introduces new gameplay mechanics that will make you rethink all of it!
