Let's Split Up is a visual novel full of non sequiturs and randomness. It's pretty bad. The writing is cringy as all hell, the game won't even go into fullscreen mode and of course there are no in-game settings whatsoever. Can't even adjust the volume. I think all the effort went into the drawings, which, credit where credit is due, are pretty nice. Everything else? Half-arsed.10 found this helpful
Game Summary:
Based on the description, especially with it emphasizing 24 various endings, I was expecting more storyline, character development, and meaning to the endings. However, that's not what this game was designed to be. It almost seems like it wanted to be a pick your own adventure book, which wouldn't be a bad system to play out in a visual novel, but it didn't work out here as well as I would have hoped for.
Pros:
• It took me a while to figure this out, but hitting the CTRL key (on my keyboard, it was specifically the right one) skips the text in case you're re-reading earlier text. It stops instantly when you come across a choice. • The music changes slightly based on what storyline and ending you come across, with the few different tunes matching up alright with the events going on. • Some of the endings and responses the characters' have are funny. • The backgrounds are nice and colorful.
Cons:
• Honestly, the game's biggest issue is that since the story is so short, you only scratch the surface on what any of these characters are like. Chris is a joker, Gemma is a snobby brat, and Brad is more somber. Since you …6 found this helpful
Never before have I played a visual novel with so many incredible twists and turns. I was jumping out of my seat so much at night my downstairs neighsbours called to complain. The characters are painted vividly and beautifully, their personalities emblazoned in my mind. My only complaint is that when the option, "Find some fun" pops up it never leads to badly drawn cartoon sex. Still jerked off to some of the more interesting expressions gemma made though. 10/104 found this helpful
‘Let’s Split Up (A Visual Novel)’ is a flurry of emotions from start to finish. All 24 endings include a unique experience that is guaranteed to leave you on the edge of your seat no matter which path you decide to follow. Personally, I could lecture and rave about this game for hours; simply put, it has changed my life. I identified with many of the inner plights amongst these complex characters, Iris, Gemma, Chris, and Brad (MY BELOVED). By the Gods themselves, I love Brad, Brad easily possesses my heart and I would let him clog all of my arteries with the salty sweat that drips off of his muscles that ripple amongst the waves of moonlight. The gameplay interface of this game is completely and utterly ethereal. There are no other words in the English lexicon that could properly convey my feelings regarding the gaming experience interface. The gameplay is ahead of its time, an innovative example of where our modern technology is taking us next. The game completely deletes its own System 32 file upon completing an ending, which perfectly reflects the real-life phenomenon of completely going back in time in order to have one more chance at a new unique ending. TLDR; Play it3 found this helpful
Check your sense of disbelief at the door before reading this. Anything and everything can happen, for no reason, with no consistency. Characters rarely behave the same from one ending to another. This isn't necessarily a good or bad thing, but more just a fact. There are some funny moments to go with the decent backgrounds and stylized characters. But without a doubt, the thing that drags this down is the 24 endings. If you're going to advertise 24 endings, maybe have an in-game method to go from an ending to another save or the main menu. Externally closing the game gets very tedious, very fast, 24 times over.2 found this helpful
