Carpe Diem is a short visual novel developed and published by Moonlit Works that proves a meaningful story does not need dozens of hours to leave an impression. Built around a simple premise and a small cast of characters, the game focuses on a single day in the life of Jung and his companion Ai. What initially appears to be a lighthearted romantic experience gradually reveals a more emotional and reflective narrative, encouraging players to appreciate the present rather than dwell on what cannot be changed. The game's storytelling is its strongest feature. Instead of relying on dramatic twists or complicated plot structures, it creates emotional weight through ordinary conversations and shared moments. Jung and Ai spend much of the story engaging in everyday activities, but beneath the cheerful interactions lies a deeper message about love, loss, and acceptance.
