Carpe Diem

It might be short, but it's a nice story. I didn't expect the ending, even though the plot twist was foreshadowed by the name of the girl character, Ai. I don't play visual novel games that often so I don't have much else to add.

Carpe Diem is a roughly fifteen-minute visual novel about a date. It’s a simple little story, the dialogue is nice, and before you know it, you’re already at the end. But the game has a surprise waiting for you in its final few seconds. It’s a joke that works precisely because it comes completely out of nowhere.

So when can we show this to the people that are actively going into relationships with AI? lolsies

Carpe Diem?

Carpe Diem is a very short visual novel that caught me off guard because it starts out feeling like a simple romantic story and then turns into something much more serious. I play as Jung and spend the day with Ai, a girl he is clearly very attached to. The story is mostly about spending time together and seeing the world through Jung's perspective, but there is an important detail about Ai that Jung chooses to ignore. I do not want to spoil what happens because the whole point of the game is seeing that story unfold naturally. What I like most is how quickly the game establishes the relationship between the two characters. I do not have to spend hours getting to know them before the story actually becomes meaningful. The writing is simple and the presentation is very much in the style of a small anime visual novel, but that works for the short format. There are different choices along the way, although they all eventually lead to the same ending. I think that is actually a good decision here because the game is more interested in the message and the experience than giving me a complicated branching story.
