About Lethis - Daring Discoverers

The Game:

Lethis - Daring Discoverers is a 2D isometric exploration and investigation game where you can travel to planets, each more bizarre than the last. With a game system based on choose your own adventure books, you must find a way of stealing the artefacts hidden on each planet.
Collect objects that may or may not be useful, face terrifying aliens and negotiate with the other more peaceful creatures to achieve your ends.

Story:

The scientists on Lethis have just made two major technological advances. The first is, in fact, a giant cannon that can launch projectiles through space, and which has allowed them to initiate a space programme which is, to say the least, incredible. The second is the development of a cloning machine that enables them to send explorers into the most hazardous situations without worrying too much about the potentially lethal risks.
Armed with this innovative technological arsenal, the Lethis Academy of Space Sciences then decided to send a crack team to find mysterious artefacts on each of the planets in the solar system. These are the interplanetary adventures you will experience.

✦ AI summary

Players are divided on this roguelike exploration game, with some praising its charming art style, whimsical writing, and mysterious atmosphere as a worthwhile hidden gem, especially at a low price point. However, others criticize its lack of clear direction or tutorial, shallow gameplay mechanics, overly twee aesthetic, and poorly explained systems that make it feel more like exploring aimlessly than pursuing meaningful goals.

Ive just bought this game for 1$ and i cant believe the reviews aint overwhelmingly positive. If its not ur cup of tea dont buy it. Whats wrong with you guys. Its roguelite adventure turn-based game with tons of discoveries and more than amazing art. This game is hidden gem and ive missed to buy it on sale few times, and wanted to get it from around 2 months. After League of Renown Explorers and Out There this will be my 3rd most favourite game of that type and im 100% sure of it, no matter that ive played only lil part of it. If you dont like games like Out There, League of Renown Explorers and the similar games, then dont buy it or at least dont leave stupid comments. I know tons of games that cost 20+ $ and are really awful, and then theres that lil gem that can be bought for a dollar. I want more games like this! Triskell dont stop makin games guys, i've just bought your Lethis - Path of Progress as well for a dollar, and I cant wait to start playin it tonight after I give this game one long run! You are amazing, one of the best devs ever! I love you guys!

I played very little of this game, but that was quite sufficient for me to make up my mind. As a children's game, it might be a success; but I found the aesthetics (character design and especially animation) and music sickeningly twee, the writing only functionally sufficient (probably a product of the translation) when it was actually translated and free of errors, the choices lacking in weight, and the minigames ill-suited to any interface other than a touchscreen. I expected isometric turn-based exploration and combat with at least some depth, but the experience was shallow and very much not to my taste.

This charming city-building game combines creativity and strategy. Design and expand your Victorian-inspired town, manage resources, and complete quests. Its beautiful art style and engaging gameplay offer a relaxing yet challenging experience.

I honestly don't really understand the negative reviews? I played through the whole game in a few sessions and it's rather charming! The artstyle is consistent and very beautiful, the writing is a wonderful combination of witt, silly jokes and mystery. And the music! This wonderful music! I had a lovely time exploring the planets and figured out all the gameplay mechanics on the fly, which imo are pretty selfexplanatory......if you're daring to discover them. The tutorial was bugged for me though, so that is a minus point. Still I didn't need the tutorial to understand the game and figure out all the puzzles.

This is just a review to say "yes, it is that bad". I bought this on heavy, heavy discount, and went into it knowing it was likely disappointing. As an indication It took me almost five minutes to figure out how to move my character. There was no instruction, and no controls setting in the menu. Pressing all the keyboard buttons and clicking everywhere on the screen did nothing - until I accidentally held down the mouse button and the character walked in that direction. I'm afraid that just set the tone for the rest of my experience. This game is just as others have described - charming but pointless. There's no goal set, nothing to follow, no explanation of hurdles, challenges or what you're supposed to do, and no apologies about any of it. It's like a sandwich without filling. Or a burrito without filling. Or a... you get the idea. It's a shame because it really is a beautiful game. The art, style and soundtrack are all incredible - but the developers were clearly artists and not gamers as what they've built is just a beautiful turd. I'm happy with my purchase, but I don't recommend you buy it. At least it runs great on Linux.

Lethis – Daring Discoverers, developed and published by Triskell Interactive, is an ambitious attempt to blend steampunk science fiction, narrative-driven exploration, and classic adventure design into one peculiar, storybook-like experience. Set in the whimsical universe of Lethis—a world already familiar to players of Triskell’s city-building game Path of Progress—this title abandons urban planning for interplanetary discovery. The player takes on the role of one of several eccentric explorers sent into the unknown corners of space in search of relics, alien civilizations, and forgotten technologies. The game is presented as a charming yet demanding voyage through uncharted planets, where every decision, encounter, and discovery helps shape your fate. It captures a spirit of curiosity and wonder, yet also tests patience with its mechanical roughness and uneven difficulty. From the moment the adventure begins, the atmosphere of Daring Discoverers is captivating. Its world bursts with vibrant hand-drawn pixel art, intricate steampunk machinery, and vivid alien landscapes that balance whimsy with mystery. Every location feels meticulously crafted, from the metallic ruins of abandon…
