"LocoMotives" is what looks and plays like a mobile app, a boardgame-esque experience backed by cards where you lightweight tycoon against other players (there are none) and build out a railway, fight off outlaws, and uninstall fast because the quality here is through the floor. There's a notable lack of polish as it feels like this got mostly developed then rushed out, poor optimisation and a lot of work seems to be missing on the UI. It's also notable that the game intro is done as an asset flip as the developer stole a bunch of assets from Synty's Polygon Western asset pack and tried to pass that off as their own work. On the topic of visuals, the weak looking 2D retro assets seem like they'd be more at home in a browser game or a mobile app. 3D graphics accelerators hit the mainstream of PC gaming in the mid 1990's with cards like the ATI Rage and Voodoo3D, there's no excuse for such poor 2D graphics in 2026. That alone is enough to disqualify this for recommendation. This game is fairly dated at 7 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. Not user friendly. There are no tooltips, no tutorial, nothing telling you what anything is.
Great game! Wish certain features they offered actually worked.
