About LONELY, LUSTFUL, ARROGANT, HATEFUL

A unique puzzle adventure with a cryptic story and intriguing drama. Solve puzzles and conquer challenges in a brutal and unforgiving dystopic gameshow. Meet new friends along the way, get to know them and discover their motives. If everyone dies, it's game over and you'll have to start from the beginning. Can you keep everyone alive until the end? Are you after glory, love or vengeance?

LONELY, LUSTFUL, ARROGANT, HATEFUL was developed by Notovia (best known for the cult-classic horror series I'm on Observation Duty). Music by Snare.

As a game, it's fine. It's a little more puzzle-/action-oriented than the publisher's other title, I'm on Observation Duty (which is more "spot the difference"), and after getting past the initial immense frustration of the first challenge with the simple hint of "draw a map," it's actually not too difficult. Why I'm NOT recommending it is the completely unnecessary use of A.I. art for the City propaganda (even if it's ironic use, to give this deliberately unsettling feel that non-A.I. art can't replicate as easily). I just can't really support it even if it's somehow ethically sourced. Take that out, and it's an alright way to waste a couple of hours (other than the first challenge).

This game just isn't that good. It controls like absolute garbage with keyboard and mouse, with it being impossible for me to get through certain parts of the game. The characters are all pretty flat and one/two note at best. I feel no reason to root for anyone here because none of them have particularly noble reasons for being here or likable personalities. The dialog is also rather flat and somewhat stilted. The use of AI art is another issue that I think ranks rather low compared to everything else, but it is still an issue. The mini games just aren't very fun, and, because of the poor controls and getting stuck places, it's not uncommon for you to die for reasons not your fault, especially if you're using keyboard and mouse. When playing with controller, there isn't much challenge at all. If you're getting this game in a way that it effectively doesn't cost money for you (like the Notovia Collection bundle), it's okay, but I wouldn't recommend buying this game on its own.

I rarely make reviews but I need to talk about this! The gameplay was fine. The first puzzle was excessively difficult for the first level, made me incredibly frustrated, however, once I figured out what I was doing, it was fine upon my replay! The gameplay was repetitive until the "trials," where I thought it had uniqueness... until I got to Elle and Erik's trials, which were repeats of Jan and Ringa's. Anyways, skipping all of this to hop right onto the characters and dialogue. Spoilers if you care.
Being upfront, these characters were bad. Like, no personality outside of their one character trait. Which, I'm sure made sense, considering the name of the game is basically what each character was. I think on paper, brilliant idea! I like the idea of each character representing their one word.

Jan being Lonely, Elle being Lustful, Erik being Arrogant, and Ringa being Hateful. All clever. I think this could've made for some interesting character writing! It didn't, but the potential was there. I think Jan and Elle were insanely one note, which, fine, they felt like background characters. However, it also made them very unlikeable. Jan's entire thi…

Being so honest, this game was fun and pretty easy. Only part I struggled in was hard mode because well, it's hard mode. Other then that, nice story and pretty easy to get all achievements once you know the personality of all the characters. Also! There is slight nudity, but nothing bad; pretty safe.

the only problem is the first challenge can be pretty unclear for new players (like it was for me!) here are hints for 1st challenge:
1) one out of four rooms are safe

2) if multiple rooms look "clean" then there will be one where either the laser isnt tracking you or the room is empty(no lazers)

3) use a notebook and draw the correct path out(a grid showing up/down/right/left is safe) as after death the game just rotates so either rotate your notebook or respawn till it is the way you want
Don't waste your time - first puzzle is so vague and unclear that I didn't bother trying to persist through
