About Maritime Calling
In Maritime Calling, you'll have complete control over your ship, from steering to sails to rigging. But it's not all smooth sailing - you'll need to watch out for shoals and make sure you don't capsize your vessel. Life on board is also full of challenges, as you manage your crew shifts, plan provisions, repair hull damages, and keep spirits high.
As you explore the procedurally generated world, you'll encounter a diverse range of features, including islands, reefs, shipwrecks, shoals, and stormy regions. And don't forget to set foot on land too, where you can gather resources, solve mysteries, and interact with suspicious natives in a classic text quest narrative adventure.
But your journey doesn't end there - you can also develop your ship and crew, researching upgrades, leveling up, and specializing your sailors. And with no second chances in this game, every action you take carries weight and tension, as the constant threat of defeat hangs over you. Are you up for the challenge?

More abandonware with not enough content. Avoid it.5 found this helpful
So much potential wasted on what feels like an unfinished product.5 found this helpful
This game is in a bad shape. It has a lot of promise, and lines up very closely with so many of my interests in games! If it had a bit more work, it would get a huge recommendation from me. But with a lack of updates, incredible lack of balancing, frequent bugs, it seems that a level of effort was not put into polishing the game. If, somehow, the developer returned to the game and gave it a bit more work and polish, I would gladly play more and probably recommend it.4 found this helpful

This game is just boring. It is not an open world, and you can't do much. You got a relatively small archipelago map where you have 2 options: fighting ships and landing. Landing is a text-based adventure; shipfighting is very simple. The main problem is the wind. It is 1 direction and doesn't change much, so if you want to go from A to B, pray you have good wind. After you explore a lot and complete the story portion, you can sail to another archipelago and start over. It is just not fun.
I highly recommend this game if you have an interest in the Age of Sail. It is a casual play sailing ship crew management game. The graphics for the land are low tech but the ship models are done well, circa 1600 galleon types. Basically you play Drake during the time of the Spanish Caribbean though the nations are fictionalized. The map is randomly generated and you have three starting classes: naval officer, pirate, and merchant so replay value is good. The adventures on land are text driven with die roll out comes like in a rpg game. There are no battle mechanic or fighting graphics; its a crew management game: who you put in the ships boats to go ashore effects the out come. You, as captain, and the crew gain skills and perks as you level up. The battles are simple you fire your cannons when you get the enemy ship in your broadside arc. There is ball, chain and grape. The wind affects your speed depending on the angle but there is no tacking as you can sail into the wind. The are 2 sail modes and you use these modes to control your speed. Again, would recommend on sale (i paid 6 us dollars. Fair enough but i would not pay much more) to Age of Sails fans. The ship models are do…
