Max’s Big Bust 2 has oodles of things to love, ranging from its cast of quirk-riddled oddballs to a genuinely fascinating world, all rendered with a creative and enthusiastic approach that I find both intriguing and inspiring. It can be rough in spots but, at the very least, it is quality enough to warrant a recommendation. After the RPG shenanigans of Alluna and Brie, Max returns to top billing in her first proper sequel! Admittedly, I had my reservations about Max becoming the leading lady again after her flanderization in the previous game. So imagine my surprise when the opening act acknowledges Max's decay, provides a narrative justification for it, and then fixes her! Take this as a sign that the writing has improved yet again. This isn't to say that Max has suddenly become a genius, though. She still does some hilariously dumb things! It's just simply funny rather than giving reason to wonder how someone this dumb could possibly be alive. Other than that, this game begins shockingly similarly to Max's previous outing. A bust goes wrong, a magical car bomb explodes, and Max gains an even bigger bust. Joining her in this experience are previous ACPD alums Brad and Holly, who become a girl and more curvy respectively. Off begins an investigation into thefts of the magical ore Scorlite at the center of the explosion, which eventually involves a malicious shapeshifter, a secretive witch cult, and more forays into the Frakk. This is a larger story than the previous Max, making good u…1 found this helpful
The fourth entry in Lached Up Games' Axonverse series, back to its VN roots. Best art of the series. Many characters are returning. Humor is still on point. Most enjoyable Axonverse game so far.1 found this helpful
Max's Big Bust 2 is the sequel to Max's Big Bust 1, and also the game preceding the events of Help! I'm Turning Into a Mermaid! Gameplay wise, it plays very much like the latter. It is largely a visual novel, with some adventure-style puzzles. There aren't as many as in HITIAM, but they all are really well done and none of them are frustratingly difficult. While I didn't care for InsectiVirus, it is a cool side mode. The main meat and potatoes, though, is the story. After a suspicious explosion of a new magical energy source, our lovable idiot cop Max finds she now has God-tier powers, and is no longer a total idiot. Now she has to reconcile both with the mistakes she made while being an idiot while also trying to find a theif of this magical energy source. I like Max's character arc in this, as it shows both characters reluctant to trust her even after she isn't an idiot, but also Max doubting herself over what she did over the past few years. Its an interesting arc, and probably my favorite part of the story. Its never spelled out explicitly, but I think that is why it works so well. The new characters also are amazing. Wolf, Jock, Nemertes, Aisha, and Yua were some of my favor…
Second part as great as first! I throught Max BB 2 is sequel of Max BB 1, there is more games chronologicaly between them. I didn't play any Lached games exept first Max BB, but in menu there is a summary of previous games in series, so you can understand some mentioning of previous events, but even if not it's not big deal, you can guess just with context. Altogether it's a cool game: interesing mystery plot, cool puzzles (if it's hard there's Nekorai to help you), hilarious jokes, lot of fanservice. Strongly recommend to play. Game have some minor disadaveneges like: - there is no gallery for CGs like in the 1st game; - when you play again to romance characters you can't skip puzzle like in 1st game, do it again from scratch.
