Minotaur (2019)

I'll give this game an upvote. It is a case of "Being stuck in eternal development hell". I first heard about it from Markiplier who played the demo seven years ago and just picked it up during this most recent sale. It's somewhere between a point and click adventure and a visual novel, far more involved than a visual novel but the puzzles aren't exactly too difficult and I feel like it's the story where it shines and most of people's attention is going to go. The setting is my favourite part for sure, I'm a sucker for really in-depth clearly thought out settings with lore and history and this does strike me as a game made out of someone's homebrew D&D setting, which I honestly think is awesome as it oozes with personality and passion. The voice-acting is the other stand-out for me and all the characters I've experienced thus far sound really good and fitting role wise. My only real big negative is the length of time this has been in development hell, but I understand these things do happen with indie devs who often have other pressing matters in life. The story is good, but the gameplay is bad. First, you play a quest that allows you to use "clues." You either use your own brain to solve puzzles or click through every clue. You’d expect to be rewarded for not using clues, right? Tough luck, you're punished for it. Because to save AI energy, you have to use it more (obviously). If you use your own brain because the solution seems obvious, you get the bad ending. How would you know that? Well, the game tells you after you’ve failed, so now you have to click through clunky menus instead of just playing the story to see the better ending. You try to play the story by doing the reasonable thing, but you can't do it "right," since there are no hints for that path. Then you spend hours in menus trying to fix it and pretend you did everything correctly. This is just bad game design. The game uses bizarre logic: giving you hints during gameplay is a big no-no, but once it’s impossible to finish the game properly, it gives you a complete walkthrough in the menu afterward, explicitly telling you what you should have done. Sorry, not playable. screen is always stuck at small size, so if you're not using a 12" screen then you'll miss out. those of you who love this game must be playing on a cell phone which I wont play. The fact that this game continues to inch towards completion after all these years... makes me happy A fantastic scifi indie adventure / visual novel. If I could make a list of games worth playing, and send it to my past self, this one would be on it :D And that's just based on the one route I've played! Trying to hold off continuing until 1.0 for the rest... but maybe it's time... If you're reading this, maybe try the Demo!!

Found this game years ago before it was ever on steam. I've always enjoyed VNs and this one i have to say you can feel the love for the game and care behind it. Great story already there and more to come, cant wait for it to be finished. Also highly recommend getting the soundtrack as it is just great music and hits even better once you play the game having the music hit with the story moments.

Ngl, I remember pirating this game years ago and instantly fell in love with it. At the time, I didn’t have the financial freedom to support it, but now that I’m adulting and have some extra funds, I bought the game to show my support. I’m really glad I did, as I’ve enjoyed replaying it! Thanks for making such an amazing game.
