Minotaur's Maze

highly recommend this game. I have only played it for about 30 minutes so far, but I was completely enthralled. The game is set at a 3/4 angle viewpoint and is a point and click diablo-style dungeon crawler game. Being in VR the left hand moves the screen around and has some light zoom in/out. You need to use the left hand as a candle to light your way as well which was neat. I actually sat down at one point to get a closer view. The way the graphics are everything looks like little toys. I actually felt like there were little action figures in front of me animating and fighting. It's a fairly simple game but I can see a lot of cool things being done. Early access so you know there's more to come. For $10 I highly enjoyed this experience so far

I picked this up because I just like the idea of "tabletop perspective" in VR games and I am impressed. Minotaur's Maze does a lot of really cool things I would love to see in more VR games. The UI is fairly minimalistic but feels really good, and the VR controls are tight. The art assets themselves aren't going to amaze anyone in 2017, but they did a great job making everything coherent. With some solid lighting they give the game a pleasing aesthetic that is easy on the eyes in VR and just looks cool to be in. There is a VR tutorial built into the game which is also a big plus. Not related to VR, but I also appreciated the campy-yet-adorable voice acting. That being said, the gameplay isn't likely to blow you out of the water, but I think the package as a whole is fun. There were a few annoyances - sometimes the menu spawns inside a wall and gets cut-off, and the in-game controls help shows the gamepad controls even if you are using the Vive controllers. It also took a while to figure out how to move the playspace which I don't think was mentioned in the tutorial. All in all, it's a solid take on a tabletop perspective game.

No updates for over a year

Feels like a real time miniatures RPG game in VR. Pretty fun so far, easy to pickup and play.

While I am not necessarily a fan of the rougelike, this has just enough of a Diablo feel to keep it interesting.

LONG VERSION - So originally bought this game long ago, but couldn't get it to work with my Touch controllers on my Oculus Rift, despite the page showing that it supports Oculus. The developer confirmed that he didn't know why his page showed this support (he'd never tested it) and didn't mean for his page to show it and said he couldn't remove it. Could never get it to work, the game stopped being supported later and it disappeared into my list of VR games to be forgotten. Until I got my Rift S. Something told me to boot this back up and try to see if the Rift S controllers were any better with it. You wouldn't figure it would be, but I got curious. Turns out it worked much better, although clunky for some reason. I found out on an old youtube comment that the controllers detect touch on the buttons in addition to pressing them, which complicates things. So if you went into the Steam controller settings for this specific game (Steam VR options, Devices, Controller Settings, then pick the game from the list on the right) and DISABLED the touch feature on the A, B, X and Y buttons (I also did this for the triggers as well, just to be safe), then the game works!
