Ninja Resurrection is a deeply flawed and frustrating game that also feels like it's close to being something amazing. The game is a boss rush, but goes in a design direction that I consider to be a fatal mistake: The bosses have access to all the same mechanics as the player. There is a certain thrill with fighting opponents that feel like they can do all the things you can. But there's a reason that most of the well-remembered rival fights of action games do whatever they can to "fake it", and not actually give them all your defensive and movement abilities. So effectively, it's a fighting game single player mode. This means all the highs and lows that come with it. Anyone that's played Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter in an arcade will know what to expect from this. Opponents can hypothetically avoid damage indefinitely, if they wanted to deflect everything with perfect timing and not go on the offensive. Success usually depends on finding some silly exploit or cheesy strategy, rather than properly learning an enemy's behaviors and engaging with them on equal terms. And not only is it effectively a fighting game, it's a BAD FEELING fighting game. A lot of design decisions seem…

Pretty cool! I found this from the blog post about how the developer used Cascadeur for all the animations. He did a great job on them! I was really surprised to find that the game was free as well. Gameplay is hard. The bosses are smart, and I'm not. The combat is visually appealing, but it seems like you just spam the attack button and vary your direction.
Warning: AI Slop This game is partially or completely made with talentless, soulless AI generated content.

Warning: Asset Flip! "Ninja Resurrection: A tale of Kuro" is one of literally thousands of creatively bankrupt asset flips infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere.
The developers took a bunch of assets and arranged them into an incredibly bad, janky arcade brawler with a bit of platforming stuff, this really comes across as the type of thing Digital Homicide were doing before they got banned from Steam. It really is just a collection of other people's assets arranged badly, although without the price tag at least we can remove the aspect of malicious intent from the equation. Regardless, an asset flip is an asset flip. Of course, any goodwill the developer might hope to get is eroded by the disgusting use of AI slop for soundtrack and other elements of the game... what a time to be alive, just when you thought asset flipping was the worst thing to happen to gaming, they're using AI slop too…

So when you start your are going to think this games controls are awful and probably just quit. Don't and go left and find the training room. This game says in it is the hardest fighting game, I don't disagree with that. It has a unique mechanical style that takes some getting used to. It is different and actually pretty cool. I would have to put some real time in to this to really understand it. Its a challenging game.
I'm currently doing a challenge to play through a free game in every single category on steam. I then give an honest review using ChatGPT.
Game: 17 / 447 Category: Swordplay Unity Store Swordplay Gone Wrong This game is a mess. It feels like someone slapped together some Unity store assets and called it a day. The sword fighting system is clunky beyond belief—controls are unresponsive, and the attack animations are so slow they might as well be in slow motion. The so-called “standard difficulty” is labeled as insane difficulty, complete with a warning to make sure you’re up for it. Here’s the kicker: there’s no other option. You’re stuck with “insane,” which feels less like a challenge and more like a cruel joke. Oh, and the tutorial? Good luck finding it, because it’s apparently hidden away like some sort of Easter egg. Save your time, save your money, and save yourself the frustration. This is not the swordplay experience you’re looking for.
