The Ninja Saviors: Return of the Warriors

A solidly decent 1990s side-scrolling beat 'em up that is better than average; featuring robot ninjas. Play as one of five robotic ninjas (three starter, two unlockable), each with their own combat moves, reach, and special attacks. Gameplay isn't terribly complicated, feeling quite simple compared to other side-scrolling beat 'em ups of the time. Much the time you can simply just walk to the right and use your standard attack over and over again without much thought, as enemies are not terribly aggressive or do much to change up their attack patterns to generate any kind of threat. Your special attack meter is constantly charging up at the bottom of the screen, being depleted upon use or receiving certain enemy attacks. There are some differences in sprite size between characters, the range of their attacks, attack patterns, specials, aerial attacks, and throws. These are really minor differences, but do change how each character plays just enough to be somewhat different in feel. I think the only real difference I found that mattered came down to throws, as the end boss can only be defeated via throws and one of the robot enemies is easier to defeat via throws. I dig the …

Ninja Warriors Again on SNES is one of the best single plane beat-em-ups ever, and Tengo Project did a good job with this reimagining. I don't think any single plane beat-em-up can hold a candle to the best belt scrollers, but Ninja Warriors Once Again is enough of a novel experience compared to belt scrollers to make this a must play for fans of the genre.

Arcades are truly pinnacle of game design and not just designed to steal your coins. The defensive options in this game genuinely makes you feel like a subhuman ape who has 10 pinky fingers with no disposable thumbs. BLocking sucks. Somersaults suck. Dashing sucks. Defending sucks and makes you feel like a female dog whos getting gang graped by 10 coyotes. Bosses are either fine or the most miserable experience of your life because every hit you do does nothing against their invincibility. Besides that its pretty fun, hehe

Great Game! Loved playing it for the 1cc! Awesome beat em up for those wanting to get into the genre. It's a lot of fun.

Its a shame that alot of the new or remade beat em up's lack online. But as it stands by itself its a super gorgeous remake of a already great looking and standout SNES game. And the visuals are not all, new character's, juggle states, attacks, and uses of meter. As i heard somebody else say, this is The Ninja Warriors if it had a proper arcade version.
