"Now you can't see me" is a rather obtuse and esoteric puzzle game with some rather deplorably low technical delivery quality. With puzzle games the mechanics are generally well understood, but how to use them to solve the problem is where the puzzle fits in. Here, well, working out how to play the game is part of the puzzle... but I see that as just poor game design. Ever heard of "simple to learn, difficult to master"? The developer of this didn't, that's for sure. Couple that with the really poor game assets and low quality delivery and this is a miss. The blinking thing in the game is incredibly annoying, too. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming idustry, and should be applauded. Now you can't see me is a compact first-person puzzle game that takes an ordinary human action and turns it into the foundation of its entire design. Developed and published by Lyudvig Vitovskiy, the game revolves around blinking and deliberately closing your character's eyes. It sounds almost too simple to support a complete puzzle game, but the unusual rules attached to this action create situations where not being able to see becomes more useful than keeping your eyes open. Rather than relying on complicated inventories or numerous abilities, the experience challenges you to understand a small collection of mechanics and use them creatively. Closing your eyes has a direct effect on the world. Time essentially stops while your character cannot see, and gravity is also affected, transforming blindness into a practical tool for navigating obstacles. The puzzles consequently require a different mindset from a traditional first-person platformer. You may need to observe a dangerous situation, determine the correct sequence of movements, close your eyes at precisely the right moment, and then continue once conditions are favorable.
