Oodlescape - The Apocalypse

Played to completion with Oculus Rift CV1 + Touch - Game was updated by the devs and Oculus support seems to work flawlessly in the latest version :). Oodlescape is a fun escape the room type game with roomscale + teleportation support. You are the only survivor of an AI gone rogue, you need to find a way to stop it (and no one will blame you if you have some fun and break things along the way). This game also incorporates some randomness to ensure that subsequent plays upon failures are not entirely identical, so just because you think you know what needs to be done doesn't mean it will be easy to do it again. The game unfortunately is quite short, the final puzzles were extremely fun and surprising and I was sad it was over. Personally I feel the amount of content fits the asking price (more so if on sale) and you will most likely get about 1-2 hours of playtime (depending on how good you are in escape the room type games). The developers have shown a lot of love for this title and I hope they will be making more in the future. Thumbs up from me :)

It took me about an hour to finish it on my first attempt. Thanks to the randomized puzzles I'll be playing it again in the future. The puzzles weren't crazy hard, which I appreciate. The gameplay kept on changing (throughout the 3 rooms) to keep me on my toes. Well worth the $7. Definitely recommended.

The game just doesn't direct you at all. A good escape room gives you a specific starting point and everything leads on from there. This is pretty random. Like the first room where you have to have a 5 letter work to move on. Once you've found the letters, you just have to make random guesses at words. There should be something in the room that links the letter to a word but nope. The 2nd room I managed to find a power switch and a key and put the QR codes on the mainframe but nothing happened. I spent the entire time wandering aimlessly around the room. There is no clue/hint system, but mostly fails due to lack of breadcrumbs. Most escape rooms are better than this.

I had some fun with this until the end of the first room. The second room was too hard for me and there are no guides online. I was wondering aimlessly for 25 minutes. Then I had to start from the first room again! In order for me to recommend this it would need: 1) a hint system. 2) a save system.

This has been my first VR puzzle game and its been a lot of fun. The game is structured almost like an escape room where you need to look for clues in order to escape all while there's a litteral ticking time bomb in the room with you. On top of that, the devs are so amazing that they left a few hidden easter eggs for you to discover ;) Although its a relatively short game it was still a lot of fun and its easy for me to recommend this game to anyone who wants a fun challenge.

Good but a little short. Really liked the theme of the game, the look and feel etc are all great. There are some really neat escape room mechanics similar to what you'd get in a high end real world escape room. If you like escape rooms definitely check it out. I do have a few minor gripes with it though: * Way too many irrelevant clues or red herrings laying around. I get it, you can't make it too easy but it was just annoying to pick up all these pieces of paper with decent chunks of text on that were mostly irrelevant. Some were deliberately worded as if they were meant to be clues. This really got driven home at the part where you use weapons to make it through a stage of the game as a opposed to solving some kind of additional puzzle. Just made it seem like a waste of time to have read them all. You could argue they're meant to be expositional for the back story or whatever but I really don't think they added much. * First of all you get what you pay for with this game, it's affordable and the gameplay reflects that... However it did kinda ruin the immersion that you could do so much with the environment in some places and then so little in others. Like you can torch all these…
