About A Lost Room

A new level of escape game

Have you ever played an escape game? That amazing scenario, complex puzzles, where you must pay attention to everything, everywhere, find crazy items in bizarre places, and finally, open that door to victory.
What about real-life escape games? Some physical place, where you spend one entire hour inside, looking for clues and yelling at your friends for no reason, until those final seconds, where it all ends and you escape! Or someone comes in and says you’ve failed miserably.
Now, imagine an escape game in VR, where you can combine the best of all worlds. You can be 100% immersed in a completely interactable environment, without the boundaries of real world. A fully functioning complex, with countless rooms, and everything fits inside any space you might have in your room.
This is the concept of A Lost Room, an escape game without the boundaries of real world. The scale can be huge, anything can happen inside any room, and you’re there, in the middle of it all, on a full-scale VR experience.

A strange place, where danger could be anywhere

You enter a strange room, where everything is normal. This is just a controlled test. Everything is fine. A scientist talks to you, reassures you that everything is just planned, and nothing will go wrong.
But when you escape, and congratulations are in order, something strange happens. That door you’re supposed to get to meet your testers isn’t working. What is wrong with this place?
And what about those strange sounds? What is happening in there?
Now, your mission is to travel through this huge complex, find out what is happening, and escape.
But watch out, something might be lurking behind you...Will it find you first?
Beautiful places going wrong, rooms where there seemed to be a battle shortly before, e lots of blood. Will you escape in time? And in one piece?

A Lost Room is a full VR game, and requires a VR headset (HTC Vive or Oculus Rift) to be played. A VR capable PC is also required.

I will admit, I never liked Escape Rooms/ Puzzle games until VR. So I'm still kind of a noob at it and not the best at figuring things out. Although, I am starting to see patterns to the escape room experience. The key point is to check every corner for hidden stuff. And I am terrible at that because I'm not the most patient gamer. I say all that because I spent almost an hour in the first room. However, I did play in standing room and that made it difficult to pick up some items. I do recommend playing this game with a room-scale setup for that reason to avoid problems. I would say my front facing sensor setup probably added 15 minutes of just sheer frustration. I also noticed the game started with very bad visuals / stuttering video but I simply restarted the game from Steam VR and then it played fine. However, despite those problems (and I don't even blame the dev, it's mostly my front facing setup which I will change to room-scale when I next play this game) I had a lot of fun trying to figure things out. In fact, I was able to slowly piece things together just by thinking things through. Unless you're hopelessly stuck, I don't recommend using walkthroughs or lo…

Awesome game. You will need to be patient as well leave no stone unturned. Their are somtimes multiple ways to find the answer to a problem. I have not personally finished it yet because I am stuck in a particular area, but I am confident i will find the solution. Worth keeping your eye on and seeing what the developers have in store for their following updates.

My video review: https://youtu.be/cBOFEvNw1V4 PROS -Nice ambient atmosphere -Interesting backstory -Sometimes spooky environment but not scary or terrifying -Lots of gameplay, about 8 rooms total CONS -Some performance issues -I wish the flashlight could stick to your hand without squeezing grip constantly All in all, I'd say this is a great value for $10. I think after the next update it could be really special.

Two things about this game ruined the experience for me. For one, you cannot save your progress so every time you must start all the way from the beginning. The second is the awful flickering lights in every single room, which gave me a headache and caused some nausea. Physics are also janky and there were some frame rate issues in the blue hazy area. The flickering on and off lights were the worst though for me and this really made the game not enjoyable.

The lights flickered on and off way too often. A lot of the items are able to be grabbed, so when you try to grab something off of a shelf, you may just pick up the entire shelf and fling everything that was on it away. The lights going on and off just made it annoying to play unfortunately. I finished it though, and it was okay. I also felt the movement was a little difficult. There is no rotation lock so all turning has to be done physically. Which is fine when playing wireless, however players who play with the cord are going to end up tying themselves up.

A Lost Room is a virtual reality escape adventure developed and published by a studio of the same name, designed to recreate the tension and immersion of physical escape rooms within a digital space. Built exclusively for VR platforms, the game places players directly inside a mysterious facility composed of interconnected rooms filled with hidden clues, mechanical puzzles, and environmental challenges. Its ambition lies in translating the tactile, observational nature of real-world escape experiences into a fully interactive three-dimensional environment where presence and perspective matter. From the outset, players awaken in a confined room that feels deceptively simple. The initial puzzles introduce the mechanics of searching, grabbing, and manipulating objects using motion controls. Keys, tools, flashlights, and coded locks form the backbone of early problem-solving. However, as players progress deeper into the complex, the puzzles grow more layered and interconnected. Solutions rarely exist in isolation; clues discovered in one room may only become meaningful much later. This interconnected design encourages attentive exploration and careful memory, rewarding players who rem…
