About Perennial Order

Perennial Order is a 2D plant horror boss rush, set in an atmospheric Dark Age world plagued by nature-infested horrors.

Explore a mysterious world alone or with a friend, uncover a story through unusual NPCs, and cut down terrifying eldritch bosses, all in a painterly 2D style.

David vs. Goliath Combat

  • Uncover a unique boss around every corner that will test you in different ways.
  • Intense combat that utilizes twin stick melee controls.
  • One-Hit-Death. Respawn directly at the beginning of an encounter to learn quickly from your actions; spend your time fighting rather than walking.

Captivating 2D Style

  • A painterly 2D art style with a dark fantasy inspiration.
  • Themes and visuals akin to the world designs of titles like Dark Souls and Princess Mononoke.
  • Painstakingly crafted by 1 artist and 1 animator. We are developing the visual identity of Perennial Order through realistic, painterly techniques combined with 2D Spine animation.

Plagued by Nature

  • Immerse yourself in a dreary land where unspeakable horrors roam.
  • Discover Unusual NPCs and unravel more about this mysteriously beautiful world.
  • Explore a rich atmosphere through sounds and score, with musical themes distinct to each boss.

Bonded Journey

  • Experience the entirety of Perennial Order from start to finish with a friend.
  • Local and Online Co-Op.

What a game, I went in expecting a boss rushy little combat game, but was sold immediately on both the atmosphere and the tone, it really exceeded my expectations and then some, rarely do I pick up a game and blaze through it in a weekend anymore, but it captivated me in a way not many games do the combat felt tight and responsive, along with being customizable through the various buff you could assess. The soundtrack is perfect for the story it tells, its witty and humorous without being over the top, heartfelt and somber when it needs to be. I loved it. GG's to the devs, look forward to what comes next

Top 1 souls-like coop game for me until now (I played Nightreign, Elden ring, Remnant 1&2, Lords of the Fallen, No rest for the wicked —I think those are all the co-op Souls-like games we have until now) Network connection 10/10 Gameplay style 10/10 :perennialknightblue: :perennialknightred:

A true hidden gem for souls-like enjoyers and a ton of fun to play with a friend in co-op :)

Perennial Order is a difficult, but fun game. I played the coop mode with my friend and we both enjoyed it. The art style is very unique and every boss plays different. There's even a boss rush mode after you beat the game. You can tell the devs put a lot of effort to make this world come to life. So if your looking for a fun solo challenge or a coop experience that's pretty solid give this game a chance.

This game's fun, but the pacing is terrible. There are massive, uneventful stretches of walking disrupted by story NPCs. There are minor navigation challenges sprinkled throughout, but usually it's just walking, walking, walking... And the story NPCs have long, long dialogue exchanges... That require multiple voluntary interactions to exhaust... Packed with jargon and scant information density, redundancy, and just poor in either a video game context or otherwise. This is miserable in co-op if only one player cares about the story or if either player reads faster than the other. No idea why they didn't structure the game to dispense dialogue as you're walking, or only at the end of key areas. It's torture to care about story and combat and co-op in this game. It's like they didn't test it at all and just mashed through dialogue immediately after writing it.

Great game, played it with my partner and we had a lot of fun! All of the fights felt unique and we both played around with different setups.
Felt really dumb when we realised you're meant to parry the knight, not dodge.
Recommend it for any two players that want a more challenging co-op experience where it doesn't feel like one player is meant to be more experienced than the other. But even if you die, you can still help
