[h2]Pineview Drive, a disaster in game design[/h2] When I first booted up Pineview Drive, I was excited. Every horror fan who was there for the 2010s horror game era, be it in the form of watching Let's Plays or playing the games themselves, will know a game that carries the scent of that era. Dark Rose, for example, or Amnesia being the most popular. Pineview Drive is such a game. It presents an interesting premise of a haunted location and tasks the player with simple exploration of it. Seeing that this game was from a German game studio, and I myself am German, I was even more excited to see what we Germans can crank out in the horror department. Looking back, I feel naive and sorry for myself because I'm not gonna sugarcoat it. This game was awful. Really awful. Let me visualize it for you. Did you ever want to play a walking simulator where you run around collecting keys and hoping for scripted events endlessly while almost nothing happens? Then Pineview Drive is the game for you. But seriously, it is incredible how a developer can fail in game design this hard. The game is mind numbingly boring. For 90% of the playtime, nothing happens, and that makes me sad because you hea…

The game's intention isn't that bad, the idea of exploring a big mansion to find a key for the next door to progress in the game is good...unfortunately, the execution here is terrible and frustrating. As everyone says, walking...walking..walking until you find a key, and then walking walking walking until you find the door. The character takes 3 full moons to give you a clue where you have to go next...and here you may say "but games back in time didn't have any clues, you had to figure out"...true! I'd agree with your statement if this game did a good execution, but it's bad. You spend 2/3 of the game reading "notes" that tells the story, and it doesn't say anything, it's literal fillers with nothing to keep you engaged on. It's basically "Something is wrong", "something feels odd", "that strange thing happened"...nothing else, The ending? I didn't even finish the game because the last chapter frustrated me a lot that I've quit it, and here's why. This game has a health bar mechanic, which is basically your insanity meter...take too much damage and you're dead, having to restart the day again. Sadly it wasnt as good as the letsplays i watched as a kid the gameplay is awful you gotta search for a key to open a room which contains a key for another room and it goes like this till the end of the game. And you cant progress often till it hits a specific time in the day till then you just gotta wander around for no reason. the only thing i enjoyed about the game is the atmosphere. the jumpscares are okay

Very nostalgic game for me, not the best for sure, but the atmosphere is great, the story is different from the others with this 30 days of exploring a haunted mansion, I love it
