About Pocket God vs Desert Ashes

It's "Clash of the Titans!" Or, rather, "Clash of the Pygmies and Landians!" In cooperation with Bolt Creative, Nine Tales Digital brings you a new spin on their popular Desert Ashes turn-based strategy game, guest starring a powerful Pygmy army defending their territory. The Desert Ashes Landians have passed through a magical portal to the remote islands of Pocket God. The Landians' victory over the indigenous Pygmies isn't as assured as they think. Even with their futuristic weapons, the Landians face a resourceful foe armed with spears… who are in turn allies with head-hurling zombies and sharks shooting laser beams!

Play as single player with over 10 hours of game play, or as multiplayer with unlimited play! Level up your army and become Lord of the Pygmies!

Tags: Tactical Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Limited animation. Cheap sprites. Feels like a flash or browser game. Instance based campaign where you clear hostiles off the map through turns. Outcompeted.

I picked this up during a sale expecting a fun Advance Wars-like experience, and while the core turn-based gameplay delivers some genuine enjoyment — especially once you figure out what you're doing — the whole package feels like a rushed mobile port. The art style is charming and laser sharks are a highlight, but the clunky menus, lack of unit information, and bugs like not being able to scroll to the Dodo unit made the experience feel unpolished. The campaign gives you a few hours of content but the strategy never gets deep enough to stay interesting long-term, and online is essentially a ghost town. For full price it's hard to justify, but if you catch it for under a dollar and like light tactics games, you could do worse.

Pocket God vs Desert Ashes is a quirky and experimental crossover that blends the lighthearted chaos of the Pocket God universe with the structured, hex-based tactical gameplay of Desert Ashes. Co-developed by Nine Tales Digital and Bolt Creative, and published by Nine Tales Digital, the game sets out to marry two very different identities: whimsical humor and traditional turn-based strategy. The result is an unusual hybrid that is often charming and occasionally clever, but also clearly constrained by limited depth and uneven polish. The premise immediately establishes the game’s playful tone. The technologically advanced Landians stumble through a portal into the island world of the Pocket God pygmies, expecting an easy conquest. Instead, they find themselves facing not only surprisingly resilient island warriors, but also bizarre threats like zombies, monsters, and laser-equipped sharks. This absurd narrative framing is never meant to be taken seriously; rather, it exists to justify the game’s eclectic unit roster and colorful battle scenarios. For fans of Pocket God, this crossover feels like a natural extension of that series’ irreverent humor, while strategy fans are invited…

This game gets better once you figure out what to do. When I first played it I was so confused because I didn't know what to do. Now that I know what to do, i've gotten past some parts of the campaign. Once you figure out what to do, it's pretty fun

"Pocket God vs Desert Ashes" is no better than the Steam version of "Desert Ashes", except the pygmies from "Pocket God" have made a cameo in the series. In this version, there are fewer achievements, no improvements made to the animations or graphics, multiple grammatical errors, and overall deadening gameplay. This by-product should have never reached public eye in the first place.
