About Positron

Positron is a fast paced arcade style game inspired by the classic arcade games of the 80's, namely Tron, Battlezone, Tempest, and Star Wars. Battle against opponents in the Arena, navigate your way out of the Maze, and collect power-ups while avoiding your own trail in Snake. Combining elements of these arcade classics, adding bright modern 3D neon visuals, enhanced effects, and super smooth gameplay. Positron enforces the core game mechanics seen in those original games, in a fresh new way.Battle against A.I. opponents or split-screen against friends in the Arena. Fight to eliminate your opponents in deathmatch style battles, set across dozens of arenas. Navigate complex mazes, find your way to the exit then try to set the fastest time on the leaderboards. Featuring hundreds of mazes split across three distinct difficulties.Collect power-ups which grow your trail and avoid destroying yourself in Snake. Challenge yourself to survive as long as you can, or compete against a friend in splt-screen multiplayer.Positron is designed and developed by Martin Caine, as a side-project alongside his full time job working as a programmer in the games industry.

The game is programmed in C++ using a bespoke custom engine, which will also be used to bring the game to further platforms.

This game is the epitome of 'easy to pick up, hard to put down'. The controls are simple but responsive, and the fact that there are zero wait times to get back into the game after you fail is a massive bonus, and really feeds into the 'just one more go, I'll do it this time' sort of feeling. There are two modes: Maze and Snake, with an Arena mode on the way (though don't know what that's going to be). Both Maze and Snake (yes, classic Snake but in 3D with a light bike twist) are really well made, with loads of value for the price. My kids and I played for ages trying to beat each other's scores, and see how high we could get on the worldwide leaderboards. I've already had my money's worth from this game, and there's LOADS more play time in it. Definitely recommend giving this a try, and getting a bargain bucketload of fun whilst supporting an indie dev.

Looks sweet, plays fast and smooth with straightforward controls... difficulty is a little on the hard side for an old fart like me, but love the simplicity and slickness of the concept. Keep up the good work!

A smooth snake style game with a Tron aesthetic which is very addictive. When you crash you are immediately put back in a continuous loop which makes you just keep playing. It's a game where you can just lay back & get totally into the zone. Would have loved it on my PSP so can see it being perfect for the Steam Deck.

If you like games that look like Tron, this is for you. Great game play in the two modes that are currently in Early Access. I brought and paid for this myself - you can see my video review here. https://youtu.be/pWcwynkBYag?si=q5folzVjjElRsSqr Do I recommend - absolutely.
