About Puppet Seed

Puppet Seed is a Sandbox CRPG created by a Solo Developer using Unreal Engine 5.
The minimum requirement for GPU Vram is 6gb. Demo available below.
Puppet Seed combines two game features which are rarely seen together. Permanent, customizable AI Companions and a seamless, non level-gated, 3D Open World. Collect, train and upgrade unique party members with modular armor, weapons and skills as well as summoning powerful combat monsters. Explore the frozen surface of Echora on foot as well as using your player owned vehicle, defeating opponents in a non-linear, sandbox world. Be mindful that your reputation matters, the conflicts you chose will determine which groups will hunt you and which ones will open new trade opportunities!

Puppet Seed is a 3rd person action rpg, where you and up to 3 AI companions struggle with pathfinding and occasionally roflstomp some badguys. The music is nice, the graphics are decent, and going around and "collecting" the different companions is fun enough...though the map is quite small, and there are few variations on the companions, so you'll see everything pretty quickly. That being said, right now I do not recommend the game; however, with a couple of changes it would be decent (idk if feedback should go in the review? will move/delete upon request): 1. click-to-move is an abomination in a 3rd person game; need WASD and jumping/falling; game is borderline unplayable as-is. 2. delete the hovercraft, it's implemented so poorly that it's insulting...and doesnt add anything to the game that would make fixing it be worthwhile (adding a grappling hook/flying instead, would make the ridiculous terrain much less aggravating). These are some things that I think would elevate the gameplay (with the above changes) to "Very much worth playing": 3. Enemies are terrible, like...aside from the crazy giant enemies, everything else is a joke; the demi-gods die to 2 attacks. …

So I just got game after trying the demo. The game has promise. BUT the fact you can controller the hovercraft with WASD but not the character is incredibly annoying. Since some of the pathing is not the best having WASD would make moving around a lot easier. Plus there needs to be a button you can push that will let you auto attack the nearest enemy. Having to click on them or hold it is just a pain. Also needs to have options to turn the sound and music down or off. This is just the few things I noticed with the demo and they still exist here. So hopefully the game gets some QoL and I will play this a lot. Just little to jank right now. But if you can handle the jank better than me, I do recommend this game. It is interesting. Just had issues right now. Edit: I had it as a recommend for a while. But with no updates or news I cant recommend this game. I gave it a yes in hopes of things being fixed. Not a single update since release. Game is barely playable.

This isn't a game, it's a glorified tech demo. Some really cool ideas and awesome designs but there's absolutely nothing to do, just a big empty world with the occasional combat. What a shame.
