About Racine

Thanks to the praying cards in your hand, you will be able to influence the outcome of the fights, but you'll have to do it swiftly: since all of the action is happening in real time the enemies will attack you as soon as they can, whether you played your cards or not. No need to rush into the melee though, for the boosts you give to your character carry on between the fights, so take your time to wisely select the cards you will take with you on your journey.

-Dynamic real time combat with increasing intensity: Quickly use your cards to give your character a chance to survive not only the current fight, but also the ones to come. Everything happens in real time so you need to help your avatar by using your cards before he gets crushed by the relentless attacks of the spirit.

-Manage your character appropriately: Act fast but not too hastily, the intensity of the fights will keep increasing so you need to optimize your character's boosts properly if you want to stand a chance. Since stats boosts you give your character persist between encounters, you may want to think about what would be the most useful things to increase from the start.
-Build your deck: According to your play-style and the dangers to come, you may choose different kinds of cards to take with you on your journey. You'll have to make a choice, and this choice will determine what options will be available to you when the time to fight comes.
-Gather new praying cards: Explore various areas to find powerful cards that will help you on your journey. Find ancient shrines and sacred sites to discover the cards they hide.-Start to uncover the secrets of this world: Seek the answers to the mystery of the sudden burst of violence displayed by the spirits, and unveil a part of the truth about the roots of the world you wander.

This card game is boring requiring almost zero thoughts and some cards crash it.2 found this helpful
It's hard to have a reactive parry system when both you and the enemies' attacks queue is really awkward ways. Basically, playing a card cuts incoming damage by 50%, which is key to surviving. Unfortunately, the shield happens in real-time when the attacks queue up, meaning sometimes your own attacks will stall the enemy's attack unexpectedly, wasting your very scarce resource. Also, paying 5 resource to draw cards but only recouping 3 on discard makes managing your hand feel real bad. Just have card draw be on an automatic timer or something.2 found this helpful
There's a lot to say about this game. A roguelite, auto-card battler with parrying. The game itself honestly is really fun, well, until you get tired of how slow and rng reliant the game is. The main problem to me at least, is how much it forces you to stall, and the RNG. Depending on the loadout the game pushes you into, fights end either too quick to really build up or are so slow that you hardly make any actual progress in each run. Essentially, the gameplay boils down to playing cards that either increase one of your 8 stats for the rest of the run bit by bit. That part I do like, however, you can hardly even choose what cards you get. Each run you start with 8 cards, 3 guaranteed heals and 5 completely random unlocked cards (that you've taken in a run). There's an upgrade which lets you reroll your starting deck, however it costs 10% of the in-run currency, which you start with 100% (the cap) and gain back from each fight at a rate of 1%-10%. So you either take a mid hand or roll away your currency in hopes of a good or even just a decent starting hand, which you could use for gaining more cards instead. Speaking of which, to gain more cards, you have to visit specific spot…1 found this helpful
its a hot pile of garbage
👍
Solid Mechanics, very nice gameplay loop, satisfying progression, neat animations and background art, and really good sound design! The game clearly needs tweaking and polish here and there, and it did crash multiple times on me that I had to restart my run, but I'd still highly recommend this indie gem!! I hope that the developers would be motivated to update some character designs and tweak the story dialogue a bit, and give a little extra explanations here and there, if not, at the very least to just finish bug fixing.
