ATTENTION: THIS GAME REQUIRES HIGH-SPEED CONTROLLER TRACKING
Unfortunately, Steam removed some VR compatibility indicators, so we have to put it plainly here: Rainbow Reactor uses extremely accurate physics that only work with high-speed controller tracking. This means that throwing accuracy can suffer greatly from using wireless solutions like Air Play, Virtual Desktop etc - depending on your setup. Also, the game does not support lower frequency positional tracking like what is used in WMR for example. In short, it is advised to play this game using external tracking like lighthouses. On a side note, this makes this game an ideal tool to find out how good the inside-out tracking of HMDs and also the speed and reliablity of your wireless transmission is.

Normal operations have collapsed when the loading crane malfunctioned. Now it's up to the player, controlling a clueless Cleaner Bot, to load the reactor manually. Not an easy task, as the chromium balls which are full of precious energy are very volatile. Any mishandling could end in disaster…

Rainbow Reactor, developed by Tunermaxx Media GmbH in collaboration with Muikkumedia Oy and published by Tunermaxx Media GmbH, is a fast-paced virtual reality arcade experience built around precision, rhythm, and color coordination. Set inside a glowing futuristic reactor facility, the game places players in control of a compact robotic assistant tasked with stabilizing a volatile energy core. The concept is easy to grasp within seconds: grab incoming colored energy spheres and throw them into matching receptacles to keep the system running. Yet beneath that simplicity lies a surprisingly demanding test of reflexes, spatial awareness, and consistent hand-eye coordination. The entire experience revolves around motion-based interaction. Using VR controllers, players physically reach out, grab energy balls mid-air, and launch them toward the reactor’s intake points. The throwing mechanic is central to the game’s identity, and its success hinges on accurate motion tracking. A real pretty game, and an OK concept. I didn't enjoy it as a game, but for what it is.. it's fine. It is nice to see a VR game with solid graphics and push the graphics card a little.

Whoops, I got this game for way too cheap! The key cost almost nothing so I wasn't expecting much ,but this game is exceptionally well made. Especially the graphics are fantastic, even though the game is apparently from 2019. The 80s synthie music is also banging. The match3 gameplay seems simple at first, but having to throw the colored balls in VR literally adds a whole new dimension to the genre. Also, things heat up pretty quickly and new features are introduced to make the gameplay more strategic. When I look at the scores people posted on the leaderboards, I'm getting the feeling the scoring system is also way more complex than I anticipated. As I said, my only gripe is that I feel I underpaid the devs, so I'm at least writing this review. And I'll probably buy their other game too!
