Red Alliance

[b]Red Alliance[/b] is not a bad old school First-Person Shooter with a variety of weapons. You can silently kill enemies from behind and it has a sniper weapon which is fun. The downside for me was that the lighting effect of the graphics was way too bright and there are no options for lowering Gamma or Contrast.

It plays like a lower-budget Russian Half-Life 2 clone from the 2000’s era. The game has decent gunplay, lots of secrets and easter eggs hidden around every corner and offers some replay value with different game modes. In my experience it ran without any technical issues and no crashes (which isn’t always the case for games like these) + there’s decent amount of customisation in the game’s settings, from FoV slider to being able to open developer’s console for further adjustments. On more negative side, graphics and art direction is rather inconsistent with some interiors looking really good even by today’s standards while some outdoor areas look like they’ve been made 20 years ago, I’ve also noticed few times how the enemies spawned right next to me and on few occasions AI just stopped working completely. Also the campaign/story is about 2-3 hours long and voice acting ranges from “okay” to “really bad” (which is understandable given that the game was made by like 5 people). I’ve bought it on a sale for less than £4 and I’d give it about 7/10 score at that price range, its worth checking out if you’re looking for some “oldschool” shooter to play for few days.

A nice little game, I liked it. Towards the end it is a bit too much horror/suspense for my tast but the rest is very nice.

Really fun, though slightly janky (but in an enjoyable way). Genuinely thought this ran on Source when I started it. Had a good time with it, will probably replay this at some point to get the other unlockables and secrets :)

If a game can nail the fundamentals, a lot of mediocrity and outright flaws can be overlooked or even forgiven. Red Alliance is almost one of those games. First off, this is a very, very modest game. It's has some fairly nice graphics, even if the art design does come off as fairly generic, and the gunplay is solid. But everything else about this game just comes off as cheap, almost as if it was a Half-Life 2 mod. I say that not only because the game feels and looks a lot like that game, but also the structure of the game in identical, with linear levels strung together with loading screens, with some hidden ammo and health caches sprinkled around. Also, the voice acting and actual story is actively horrible. Some voice performances are better than others, but they are all in service of a campy narrative involving sci fi soldiers and a plot to take over the world. If I wanted to be mean, I'd call those aspects lazy, but that doesn't feel fair as the game does have some quality to it. The gunplay is very, very solid. i would say its a good game on 5 or 6 out of 10 weapons are great so far and alot of Easter eggs too - map design are ok and some are familiar too - story is basic and short and voice acting need to be changed , its not bad its just feels like its skyrim voice acting and ai eh ok. so i would buy it when its goes to sale and its not bad game too but feels need story to be longer that all.
