Summary
rFactor is a realistic easily extendable racing simulation from Image Space Incorporated. It offers the latest in vehicle and race customization, great graphics, outstanding multiplayer, and the height of racing realism. rFactor features mixed class road racing with ultra realistic dynamics, an immersive sound environment and stunning graphics.
You can race against a field of AI cars, or in multi-player mode against others. The simulation supports a full day-night cycle. In multi-player mode, driver swaps are also supported, allowing you to run even full 24 hour endurance events. Everything can be customized by the community, including adding new tracks and cars, and a wealth of add-ons are available on-line.

There is absolutely no reason to buy this game. There are far better sims with better tire simulation and physics, better graphics, more cars, and easier setup or design. It's also very expensive when it's not on sale. Then why bother having this? One of the oldest and most noble racing sims, and the mother of all moddable racing games, still holds up to this day living on as a portable racing sim, greatly favored by the now-booming android Winemu scene. Its portability, vast abundance of mods and ACTIVE mod and league community keeps this awesome sim affordable and popular even today, guaranteeing you will find something to do once you get it up and running. So popular in fact it spanned multiple spinoff titles and racing sims mostly coming from Latin America. Although it does have some flaws (please add the "-fullproc" command to your launch options!) given that it's two decades old, you can always find ways to make this sim uniquely yours using fixes online. While moddability is still as tedious as it was in 2006, having the option to safely download it through steam anytime is very refreshing and encouraging.
